I am engaged with four children. My fiance is only the biological father of the youngest child. I don't recieve child support from the non-custodial parent of the other 3. I did not work at all last year, my fiance supported all of us. My ???? is:HOW DO WE FILE? CAN HE CLAIM HOH WITH 5 DEPENDANTS OR CAN HE ONLY CLAIM THE BABY? HE HAS NEVER ADOPTED MY OTHER 3 KIDS, BUT THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO W/THEIR FATHER-ESPECIALLY FINANCIALLY. Please help.

ARGGHH! 5 wrong answers!

You didn't mention whether you all lived with each other for the entire 2006! This is VERY important.

If y'all lived together, daddy is HOH, (with only 1 qualifying child, but that's enough), and everybody else would be a dependent. The other 4 people meet the LIVED IN THE HOUSEHOLD the whole year rule.

Now if you didn't live in the house the whole year together, Daddy may be HOH with 1 qualifying depedent. Sorry

Good Luck

He can claim all of you as long as he supported you more then 50% go to www.shaydzofluv.com and use his last paystub to file your taxes. But yes he can claim you if he supported you for the year and can prove he provided more than half the support.

The sole or main income provider is "supposed" to claim for virtually everything. You will be claimed as a spouse but will be filed as a dependent. as for your three children I am unsure as to the details but I do know that as long as there is a letter of consent from you Revenue Canada will basically let you alter both of your statements almost anyway you want. But make sure that you send a LETTER OF CONSENT or they will re-asses your fiance's account and then he will be stuck with the burden of proving it next year.

He can file head of household and claim you and the child you have together. The other three will have to wait until you get married.

Wealthbuilder is correct - the other answers all have at least one thing wrong. Unfortunately a lot of answers here in the tax area are from people who do not have the knowledge to give correct answers.

He can file as Head of House and claim you and your children. If you were married he would have to file a married filling joint to claim you.
