My 3 year old son will use the potty for #1 but not #2. When he needs to go, he asks for a Pull-Up and says he needs to go and hide. I have tried a reward system and much praise, but it does not seem to help. He has not had an issue, to my knowledge, with the potty and I am a stay-at-home parent. He knows WHEN he has to go, but just won't go on the toilet. Thanks for the advice!

I can't belive I am going to share this, but when I potty trained my first child (Used it also for my second) I made up a song. We would just go sit on the potty and...
Pee on the potty and poopy too
I go number one
And I go number two
When I all done, I wipe through and through
I went pee pee on the potty
And POOPY TOO!

I went a different route with my son. I potty trained him at 2 1/2. I plan got tired of spending money on pull ups. So we went to the store one day and I bought some plain white underwear. Then I let him pick out a couple of packs of the cool kind. (He was peeing in the pot so no biggie there, I was worried about a wet mess) We took the cool ones and set them on the shelf in the bathroom and then I put on the plain ones. I told him to earn the cool ones he had to poop in the pot every time. I also told him no more pull ups and I put the pants on him. I was fixing dinner that night and he looked up at me and ran. I followed him and he pooped on the pot. I made him go two weeks with the plain and then I let him have the cool ones. He never had an accident. But he mooned a few people over the next month showing off his cool pants. I told him that if he pooped in his pants then I would make him wear them for a while (like 5 minutes, so he would get grossed out really good). Good luck. I would buy the cool underwears.

I had exactly the same with my little girl when i trained her a few months ago. When he has gone in the pull-up, try putting the poo down the toilet, and making him sit on the toilet before you flush it away. Then suggest that he sits on the toilet wearing the pull up, and do the same. Soon he will get the idea and will not be so bothered about a nappy.
Bribery with chocolate buttons also worked for me at the start!
It gets easier! Once they get the hang of it there are very few mishaps. Hang in there and good luck!

try going to only under ware, he may not like making a big mess!!! Remember our moms didn't use pull-up's on us!! Try to catch him mid-job and run him to the toilet. He may get mad, but he won't want to hold the rest.
I am going through the same issue with my son, he'll be 3 in Feb. I am trying hard, he sneaks and does it at nap time, he waits until he has a diaper on. I only use diapers while he is sleeping, because he wets during his sleep. So I know your frustration, just try to stay relaxed. I've gotten some results with the catching in the act method. But he still tries his old tricks!!!
Good Luck, and know you are not alone :)

I read in a book don't force him when he is ready he will tell you but mean time start to talk to him of her what to do of if he have a cousin his age that already use potty let he watch him every time he go and he will learn
All you have to do is have patient sometime they are afraid of just put him on the potty with his pamper on
