I made a functional tool by wiring to each of the RF contacts to each of the two split pins on an S-Video conector. The same can be done on an RCA, but in the RF, you're apparently dropping half of the signal.

I don't think you can buy anything, I suggest you wire it yourself.

Wow, most of those answers are retarded. Joseph had a good one though.
Most likely when using a RF modulator your channel selector is off. that will cause a B/W picture.
If you have channel 3 selected on the RF mod, and channel 4 on the tv, the picture will be off, or vice versa.

Now if you are using an s video cable instead of the yellow rca from the dvd to the rf mod it could be one of the 4 pins inside the svid is broken. That could cause a B/W picture.
Other than a faulty rf mod. (very unlikely) there really isn't anything else that would act like that.

1st, check to see if the DVD player has a channel selector on it. Find out what channel it is set to(usually 3 or 4). Make sure the Television is set to the same channel as the DVD player. Other than that, I can not think of what it could be. Hope it helps.

you will need to insert the antenna cable to the dtv box input, run the coaxial out from the dtv box to the antenna input on the RF Modulator, run the RCA (red/white/yellow) wires into the RF Modulator and then run the coaxial out from the RF modulator to the TV
