Or, did God simply plagiarize a people because he planned on smiting them later?

Well the copy-write that the mighty Gilgamesh had filed was misplaced, so the infringement trial was put on indefinite hold.

Gilgamesh epic--an historical proof that the Biblical story is true. It was not plagiarized. Two versions of same story.

It wasn't until modern times that historians have discovered the Sumerians, so I doubt the Jews copied their works. It would have been passed down verbably as there weren't too many schools or libraries then. Altho it's possible Moses was influenced by that account. Still doesn't prove the Bible wrong.

So, uh, what exactly is your proof that the Sumerians were writing before God was? The Sumerians were a civilization that came after the world was created, an event the particulars of which God had written down. The Sumerians, disliking God, took what they wanted and rewrote the rest to their tastes.
Your question should be, "Why is God so patient with people who rip Him off and lie about Him?" Indeed, I don't understand it either. But aren't you glad that He isn't smiting you right now?

God never wrote a book according to my knowledge. If anybody is going to be indicted on charges of plagiarism it is those early Hebrew scholars who authored much of the Old Testament. Of course plagiarism was hardly the crime that it is today, for most ancient texts, both religious and secular, are derivations of other people’s works. That is why you see similar traditions and events in the literature of varying people around the world.

Why don't you spend some time ACTUALLY READING the Bible before you start talking out of your *** about things you don't know about?

I have read the Sumerian texts. I have read the Bible. I have read almost every Apocryphal book out there, and even the Egyptian book of the dead. I have read the Koran and Hadith. The Baghavad Gita... I have spent a lifetime dedicated to religion and seeking the true path and then some moron like you comes along and tries to critisize the works of thousands of genius men throughout the ages, and even the very work of God.

Where were you when God stretched out the heavens and placed the earth in it's orbit.

Who are you to judge.

Go study something.

Peace.

I heard that royalties were also paid to a writer by the name of Markos Moschos, who recently wrote a book on Abraham's travel from Ur (in Mesopotamia) to Canaan. Go to the site of Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com and in search area for books, type the writer's name, you'll get a view and a synopsis of the book in question, (that is not a joke).

Maybe the Surmenians plagiarized from God! That is, corrupted the true story.

There were no copyright laws back then. Thats why the Bible has so many authors, they all wanted in on it, and none had to come up with anything original.
