I have a male and he is the light of my life . he makes me so happy . definately have the male neutered though so that eliminates the marking of territory. They are perfect little dogs and they are so smart and they house train easily. good luck.

The gender is a preference thing so that part is up to you. You should definitely get them spayed or neutered if you are not planning to breed them. Spaying eliminates the chance of having unwanted litters and also reduces the risk of having mammary cancer later on in the dogs life. Neutering them reduces the risk of prostate cancer and can make the males less aggressive. Get them fixed at 6 months of age, because it allows them to mature and get the proper hormones they need. And for the males it allows their urethra to grow fully and reduces the risk of having blockages. But what ever you choose you should talk to your vet and see what they recommend for you dog. good luck

I have 6 Chi's (I breed them) and they are definitely awesome! Both boys and girls are equally affectionate. I would do some research on the breed before you decide to commit. They are a very special dog that needs a lot of love and attention. A good book is Chihuahuas for dummies. It has all the information you need to find the newest member of your family. Enjoy, and good luck!

I prefer female dogs, especially if you have children. Male dogs have a tendancy to "mark" their territory including your furniture. Females seem easier to train and aren't as aggressive. Whatever you decide get it spayed or neutered.

They both make wonderful pets. I have both. Whichever one you get, you should get it fixed, specially a boy because he will mark everything in dight, and a female so she won't have puppies. A chihuahua is the most loving little dog you could ever imagine.

Chi's are wonderful little pets. You should do your research before you get one though! They are a very unique breed! I have a female named Emmie. She is my angel! I like the little girls better but that is a personal preference! Having them fixed is a must, regardless of the sex. Good luck and enjoy!
