have her help you in the kitchen and work together and eventually she might feel confident enough to try it on her own... I'm doing that with my fiance to help him gain the confidence to try cooking his own meals :)

You could both enroll in a cooking class. They are fun and inexpensive. You could both learn how to have fun in the kitchen - no pun intended for the guy with the first comment! I'm an excellent cook/baker. I enjoy it. I'm also a stay-home mom that comes from a long line of people that know what they are doing. That helps. I had good teachers. One thing your girlfriend needs to do, like with the cookies, is learn how to adjust the temperature, baking time, and ingredients of the recipe to make the cookies taste the way YOU guys want them to taste. Not all recipes are worded according to the type of oven you're using. That's the frustrating thing. If she wants to bake you chocolate chip cookies that you'll just love, love, love...substitute Butter Crisco for the sticks of butter/margarine. Butter/margarine will make the cookies way too brown and crispy. The butter crisco will allow the cookie to bake up and not flatten out and brown! You can buy Butter Crisco in a 3-pack of sticks. Also, one more hint...the recipe will call for you to bake your cookies at 375 degrees, 9-11 minutes. Start with 8 minutes. See how they look. If the edges are not set, and the middle still looks raw, add another minute. Overbaking is the number one flaw in all cookies!

Do you know how to cook? 2 suggestions: If you do, you both should get in the kitchen and cook together and have some wine/beer. Much fun. If you don't, even better. Get some recipes, go to the store together and come back and fix something together.

Where I come from guys cook as well as women do - just different stuff. You can grill while she puts together a casserole or vegies. Watch food shows together and pick things you like, and download the recipes.

Make it fun and a way to spend time together, rather than an obligation.

There's not too many things that you can make in the kitchen, that you can't make on a decent BBQ, especially one with a side burner. Including pizza, and bread. And most of the mess is outside!! Not too much to clean up. A guy's dream come true.
If you do most of the cooking and food shopping, you get your favourite (its not a spelling mistake. I live in Canada) meals more often. The grocery store is usually a pretty good place to meet women too! Take my word for it, it's worth it to learn yourself. Cheaper and healthier than most restaurant meals, and better choices, and chicks like it too. Learn to cook and you will never starve.

Some girl just naturally suck at baking. Some girls suck on purpose because they don't want their boyfriend to expect baked goods on the regular.

It doesn't matter what catergory your girlfriend falls into because I'm sure your local grocery store has a bakery that can fulfill your cookie needs. If your cookies must be homemade buy a roll of tollhouse cookie dough and have at it. Leave your woman alone.

cook your own meals and don't let her cook for you anymore or you can tell her that her cooking isn't that bad. you should what you thank is right but be careful about your girlfriends feelings and tell her in a gentle way that you know how to.

I have a friend that has the same problem that you have and I told her the same thing that I tole you to do and she helped her boyfriend learn how to cook.

p.s. teach your girlfriend how to cook..

maybe because you said she sucks, her willingness to try again is shot...I mean who wants to attempt something if they know they are going to be criticized, even before cooking it...."lets get a cookbook babe, and cook something together" would be a better approach....No offense, but if you keep telling her she sucks, she'll forever think she does, and that isn't very good for ones self esteam.

then instead of insulting her when it comes to cooking, then why don't you just teach her how to cook simple basic meals if you hold a degree for culinary arts.

Get her a Rachel Ray cook book. And show her that people can really learn how to cook!
