Every time I start believing in God I also start fearing death. Should I believe in God at all?

To all of you who say Jesus died on the cross for me: I just cannot understand how an inocent man´s death could possibly atone for what I do wrong. I do not need this sort of atonement and I believe this is a very bad attitude towards life. I´d rather be punished for what I do wrong than pass my sins onto someone who has commited no crimes at all. Sorry pals.

Only 1 God exists and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for your sins. Nobody likes to hear about what they have done wrong but, thats normal. EVERYBODY has sinned and needs a Savior. Jesus was sent from God to die on the cross for every bodys sin. And three days after he died he rose again (JESUS CONQUERED DEATH). God created the world (and you) in six days and on the seventh day he rested (that is where we get our weeks). To go to heaven all you have to do is believe that Jesus came and acknowledge that you are a sinner. Once you are saved you don't have to fear death any more because you have assurance that he came from heaven to die for you. He took the penalty for your sins so you could go to heaven rather than hell. You don't have to earn your way to heaven by good works, because God said to believe in the Son of God. If you are saved you don't need to fear death because you have assurance; but if you are unsaved you should fear death more than anything else in this entire world. You are saved by Gods grace through faith not through works. You don't have to fear death because Jesus conquered death by conquering it. God is so powerful, nothing can destroy Him, not even death. If you need help with any questions feel free to e-mail me. I hope you make the right decision about what to do.
I detailed it a little more do you could understand it a little better. If you are truly saved, you shouldn't have to fear.

Death is inevitable. The thief on the cross knew when his would occur, but we can not predict our own. After his death, the crucified criminal went to live in paradise with Jesus. Some of us will also live eternally in God's presence. But others will experience everlasting torment, forever separated from Him.
If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)
Become part of God's family today. Acknowledge your sinfulness, and express your faith in these words:
"God, I have sinned against You. (Romans 3:23) I've followed my own way and refused to give You the right to rule in my life. (Romans 3:10-12) I recognize I am separated from You and cannot rescue myself. I do believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I accept the truth of the Scriptures? that His death on the cross paid my sin-debt in full. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) And I ask You to forgive me of my sins. (1 John 1:9) By faith, I receive You, Lord Jesus, as my personal Savior from this moment on."
If you just spoke those words to God, then, like the thief on the cross, you have received salvation? a gift of God's grace. The heavenly Father welcomes every person who comes to Him through His Son, regardless of background, age, or current situation. Through Jesus, the right to enter paradise is yours!

That is completely up to you. However, I did want to comment on what you said: "Every time I start believing in God I also start fearing death."

Christians feel that true acceptance and love of God results in the knowledge that everlasting life (an existence after your physical death) is a gift from God through Jesus’ resurrection. You are given this gift as a child of God and because Jesus took the burden of your sins from you. We are obligated to live by His commandments and to follow His path to keep the gift. If we live selfish lives and do not follow His word, the gift is taken, ergo an eternity in Hell. If we live our lives serving Him and being grateful for the gift, even if we falter and must repent, we receive it when our bodies perish.

So, to "start believing in God" but still "fearing death" is illogical, as it is only after our physical death that we are rewarded for our service and belief of Him.

Posted after your additional details:
It's a package deal with Christianity. If you feel that Jesus was just a man, than I'm sure it is difficult to understand why His death meant anything to individual people. God sent His son to wipe the slate clean and give the gift of everlasting life to individuals. When we are born, we are innocents -- true innocents. Until we gain the knowledge of the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, we are innocents. God saw to it through the sacrifice of His only begotten son that we should receive His gift. He decided to put the burden not on "a man," but on His conceived son -- born of a virgin and the Holy Spirit (God in spiritual form). If you cannot believe this specific aspect of Christianity, than you cannot truly believe in the Christian God, and now I understand why you fear death. We're here on Earth to learn to love Him and to serve Him. When our lessons are finished, we will go home (Heaven). I am not fearful of this.

God exists. The others above are wrong on that.
Second, upon your death, the full weight on your judgment falls upon you . . . unless you asked Jesus Christ to carry it for you.
Thus, you SHOULD fear death until that judgment is borne by another.
Should you believe in God? Do you want God to believe in you?
Ya see, "believe" does not mean "to credit as existing" but "to trust." I trust God. I already know He exists. As stated by James, "the demons believe, and tremble." Demons know God exists, but being in rebellion against Him, fear His judgment if their rebellion loses. To "believe" means to credit God for being truthful when He says that He loves you but WILL judge your sin because He is also the Judge.
Should you believe in God at all? You should be very careful to believe in (trust) only the God that really is, not the zillions of imitations folk have coughed up, including the ghost that is "none at all."

If you truly believe in God, then you will not fear death! Jesus has conquered death and hell! It is appointed to man but once to die, after that the judgement! Believe in God and His Only Begotten Son Jesus and be saved and let God be a part of this life and your Eternal Life! God Bless You! I will pray that you find God, for i believe He is the One who is calling you to Him. That's why you seek God, because He fills your soul!

Simple answer no. I used to struggle with the same thing back when I believed in a god, the reason why is because so many religion's main focus is on death and the afterlife. My advice is to live life to its fullest because this is the only one you have. Focus on life, not death.

Plus, there is no evidence for the existence of a god.

For all of us here who do, yes, we think you should.

I have often thought about my sins and how can someone else pay for them. I know tho, it is because God send His only Begotten Son to the end that all who believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Thanks be to God

You only fear death because you don't know what's on the other side. If you serve God and you live your life by the bible and good ways then you can be guarenteed a ticket to heaven. God bless x

I don't see how you can't fear death while not believing in God. Your statement would make more sense the other way around.

Fear God - not death. Death was overcome by God. Eternal life is yours for the asking.
