Having children is one reason. Pleasure is another. But as primates, we, along with every other living thing on this planet find it necessary for the propagation of our species. To ensure the future of people and the continuing of the human race.
Its not a guy thing, its nature. Its how we survive as people. Without sex, or artificial insemination, the human race would cease to exist in less than 75 years.
Then of course, there is the part of sex that is fun. Sex should be enjoyable to both parties. Sex can include experimentation, exploring and a lot of other things.
When you start, you will understand.

People have sex because everyone else does it and they need to feel cool because they think it's a big deal......ok..ok...ok..
and because it feels really good,it's worst than a drug.....
but the best sex is the sex that is not meant for procreating,you can't have amazing sex while thinking "i'm making a baby" that's freaking gross and a turn off.the best sex is either with someone you really love or with a naughty naughty person who makes your toes curl with all the crazy things they are doing to you...
and if you are asking why they have sex to make kids is because they love each other and they want to keep a part of that person with them forever which would mean a kid...and they want their generation to go on forever..

people don't have sex to have kids - they have sex because it feels good, and then if and ready they decide to have sex to have kids
or they have sex and get Prego because they where doing something that felt good and didn't take precautions
or they are young and stupid and think they want to have a kid so they intentionally have sex to have one
Hopefully you have your head on straight and have protected sex in a relationship and when your mature enough to have kids decides to have sex for that reason

Lots of reasons. Yes, to procreate is certainly one of them. But people also have sex because it feels good. Others have it as an expression of love.
