Here are some I would like to clear up:
We DON'T sacrifice animals/humans/whatever in the temple or anywhere
We DON'Tworship satan in the temple or anywhere else for that matter
We DO believe in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice
We DON'T think Joseph Smith is a god, but has the potential as we all do...
We DON'T have sexual rituals in the temple or anywhere else
It is interesting that there are SOOOO many misconceptions about us...I can't believe what people will actually suck in and think we do. Seriously, we are just normal people trying to live the gospel.

my guess is that no matter what we answer, you're going to put us into a category that suits you. I've been LDS my entire life. Daughter of a bishop, Granddaughter of a mission president. I probably know more about the church and it's history that you could find in any of your anti- mormon literature or Journal of Discourses. I have been through the temple and endowed and sealed. I have also, walked away for a period of time from the church. There was a time when I questioned everything about the church and it's history. While I was away, I studied and researched everything I could get my hands on. the good, the bad and the ugly about the church. I came to the conclusion that the church is true. It always was, and it always will be. There is no amount of anti crap that you or anyone else can throw at me that is going to change my belief in this church. I know that this church holds all the truths. I know it was restored to it's fullness as God has intended. I know that he did this through Joseph Smith and his other modern day prophets. I know that just because you say things are false, doesn't make it so. Show me where the Book of Abraham is proven False. Show me who has proven the Book of Mormon false, and I will seal my testimony in my blood that it is not. I hold true to my convictions. If that puts me in your category of being whatever, then so be it. You will not stand at my Judgment seat and Judge me. Only MY Father in Heaven will do so.

I like the lie about Mormons believing that Joseph Smith is God.
Have you ever seen the silent French film from way back when about the woman captured by Brigham Young and forced to be married in the Salt Lake Temple? She escapes just as the High Priests are sacrificing animals. She runs up to the top and jumps off of the statue, doing a swan dive into the Salt Lake. She swims across, gets on a ferry, and heads back to France, safe at last.
I also like KIB saying that Mormons don't believe that Jesus Christ was God, only a Prophet. This is another ridiculous myth that people like to say. Unfortunately, it just shows their ignorance.

Amen, Pinkadot...
The dumbest things I've heard is the horns, definitely... Why would a religion make us have horns??? I happen to know that I don't have any horns, and I was born mormon... neither do any of my friends, definitely no horns.

I'd have to agree with Ice princess...I think its the whole polygamy thing....many people would ask me how many husbands I was going to have...I think people who have never been to a service or have been mormon shouldn't speak of such ridiculous claims about the mormons (grew up mormon)

You are not born a Mormon. You are trained in Mormon philosophy. Not much proof out there but then there are many other things that don't have proof and many so called intelligent people believe in them. If you repeat things over and over even without proof, many people believe. Mormons will tell you they believe in Jesus but forget to tell you that they only think he was a prophet and not God. I'm sorry, I don't get involved in slamming other people, so I don't know any good rumors or fairy tails except maybe the Momon view of God they have with no proof. Only truth prevails, not speculation.

That they still practuse poligamy. thy don't, those that broke off from the church do. The true, weirdest thing I heard was that God marriade Mary before she came to the Earth and thats what happened to her when the holy ghost came over her, they did it. 38 years as a mormon. Now ex-mormon.

I am LDS - and I think the funniest one I've ever heard (next to the horns) was that we play naked basketball - nope, all recreational basketball games are done fully clothed thank you.

The most ridiculous thing that I cannot believe anyone would swallow is "you shall populate worlds as gods!" as I have heard it rumored that Mormons believe.
