Would adding some honey or ground almonds help to take away the bitterness?

Don't add honey - it's got it's own 'particular' taste that clashes badly in savory dishes & is overpowering.

Do like the 'restaurants do' - sugar syrup...or a few spoonfulls of white sugar.

If you want to disguise the flavour of the lemons a little - add a small amount of cumin (earthy taste), some cream / yoghurt to 'round out the flavours' & some spring onions for a complimentary 'sharp' twist.

add some honey and i am not sure about the ground almonds but
i think they would work too. you can also add some soy sause or olive oil....
mmmm it sounds good....
