you can but a scraper from b and q or homebase that is 4 inches wide and has a long handle, the top of the straper is a blade, reallly sharp, i use them all the time, they are about £7 to buy and will glide through the woodchip, if you get under the chips themselves, it will glide through, and then just dampen the backing paper underneath and it will come off no problem. if you dont want to do that, get a slanley blade and scratch the paper, this will allow the steam to penetrate the paper and again it will fall off, good luck http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=9800&MAN=Stanley-Heavy-Duty-Long-Handle-Scraper-0-28-004 by the way if you choose to use some of the methods above, dont buy liquid wallpaper stripper, its rubbish, get a bucket of warm water 10 litres and pour half a cup of vinegar in it, it will work wonders, look im giving all the trade secrets out here, again good luck

There is no easy way i know iv,e stripped hundreds of rooms
the best way i have found is free.Score your wood chip
with the end of your scraper then with plenty of
hot soapy water soak it leave it to soak in then
soak again leave for about 10mins depending
how warm it is then start stripping.
Don,t be afraid to use plenty of water as the
saying goes if it went on it will come off
Don,t waste your money on paper stripper soap &water
will do the job trust me &it,s free.Have fun & good luck

Just be thankful it's not that awful artex stuff. My husband took a mad turn when he was home on his fortnight off from the rigs. I was at work. When I got home him and his mate had artexed the whole of the stair case and hall in it...in big swirls and hand prints OMG.
5 years later it cost us £1,000 pounds to get it plastered over.
Scoring wood chip with a knife and soaking with water is the best option.

wood chip? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry i had to remove three layers of the horrible stuff.
It is evil and its creator should be punished, have them strip a house full of woodchip.
ahem! okay serious now find a long flat knife, like a palette knife , you might be able to get the blade beneath the paper and persuade a large piece off the wall.

Very difficult. Steam it too much and it turns to snot. Leave it dry and you will wear out your scraper and dig lumps out of the plaster.
Try the application of a steam stripper, leave the room warm and steamy for an hour. Gently steam and scrape.
Best of luck.

we had whole house of it!!! we scored it right down to the wall and SOAKED with soappy water..We did lots of horizontal then lots of vertical scores so we had 2 inch squares. once the water soaked into it, wet it again and it almost fell off....the water needs to get between the wall and paper

If its painted over try pulling off as much as you can which should then leave you with just paper with no paint on which strips off real easy with a steamer. Have fun!!
