Actually I have a 1998 TDI (turbo diesel injected) for sale for $6800 and it gets 48 mpg. That's about the going rate for a diesel. A gas engine one is about $4000 - $6000 depending on the milage. Newer ones obviously go up in price due to being younger.

You may want to check and make sure that you can cross the border into California with the bug. If it does not meet California EPA specs, I don't think they will let you in. But yes, a VW Bug from Mexico would be a great car and economical on gas. They are not made as well at the old bugs used to be, but they are a good little car.

yes, you can probably find a VW bug for less than $8000. its probably not going to be in good condition though. If you were willing or able to spend around $8000-$10000 you'd find a bug in much better condition.

ya just wate tell tax time and if it is still on the lot sents 2000 tell them it has been siting there for like 7 years and it still is on the lot. they should give u a littile bit more discount.
