It should grow back. But are you sure this is a healthy canine?

Yes, the hair will grow back. Unfortunately I have quite a bit of experience with cuts/scars dogs. My first dog had a tumour and had quite a big scar. The dog that I have now was attacked once a long time ago and had 14 stitches, and is now recovering from having a cruciate ligament operation whereby he had 12 staples. The operation was 6 weeks ago, you cannot see it. The hair grows back almost immediately. It may take until after the scab (if there is one) had fallen off.

My dog had a skin condition when she was a pup, which made the hair fall out, making a bald patch on her thigh. I think it's very cute and gives her an extra special quality. So don't worry if it doesn't grow back - it should do though.
As for knowing if he's healthy, he should have a moist, but not runny nose; sniff inside his ears and if it smells a bit mingy he probably needs his ears cleaned; look for a pup which isn't too boisterous with the other pups. This could be a good indication of how he will get on in your home.

Hair will USUALLY grow back unless there is deep scarring or some follicular disease that is preventing normal hair growth. If it has been nipped on the head, perhaps you should bring it in for a vet check up. And then the vet will also be able to exam the dog to see if the hair will grow back. There might be some supplements that your vet can recommend to help promote hair growth.

I am not much of a dog expert but I can tell you that in order for anything to grow you need to give it alot of care and patience (as wierd as this sounds) if you trim the dogs head so it looks somewhat bald but not completely then the sharpei's hair should grow natural again make sure to treat it with special scalp medications (but do not use medications meant for humans as they have not been tested for use on animals) just do a daily regiment for giving the dog plenty of care and after awhile it might grow back if it doesn't it sounds to me like a case of animal cruelty which should be reported

Hair doesn't always regrow on scar tissue.

You need to have a good look at him. He might have been shaved so the wounds could be treated. And if that is the case, yes, it will grow back.

But if the hair loss is over the injuries it might be due to scar tissue on the damaged area. In the case, hair regrowth will be unlikely.

Ask for a veting before you buy the dog, especially if you are paying a lot for him. It's not done a lot with dogs, but with horses, before you buy you have a vet check the animal to ensure it is basically healthy, then you are less likly to have to deal with a pre existing problem, which insurance won't cover.

Unless there is severe scar tissue, it will. You can always write a clause into the contract you sign, stating you can return him if it does not grow back within 3 months.
