it seems like guys at my high school are always asking for and offering hugs even to girls they barely know. why do they do this?

Hugs are an innocent enough thing that can turn into a relationship. It's a first step and it possible will come to being a dating thing. You're still young but someone like myself, being much older, I just like the feel of a nice girl and the smell of her sweet perfume not to mention the rush I get if she hugs back.

Most of them want to feel those soft breasts against them. A few honestly only want some contact with other people. For others, it's a bit of both. Have a nice day!

Dunno about other guys, but it is feels very comfortable. Like you girls hug your teddy bears... if the girl fully fits in the arms (most cases), its very nice feeling; not sexually, but physically.
