I am glad I converted to Catholicism.
I am always seeking knowledge.
I found this info online as 'additional readings" :
Protestants being thus impious enough to make liars of Jesus Christ, of the Holy Ghost, and of the Apostles, need we wonder if they continually slander Catholics, telling and believing worse absurdities about them than the heathens did? What is more absurd than to preach that Catholics worship stocks and stones for gods; set up pictures of Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other saints, to pray to them, and put their confidence in them; that they adore a god of bread and wine; that their sins are forgiven by the priest, without repentance and amendment of life; that the pope or any other person can give leave to commit sin, or that for a sum of money the forgiveness of sins can be obtained ? To these and similar absurdities and slanders, we simply answer: "Cursed is he who believes in such absurdities and falsehoods, with which Protestants impiously charge the children of the Catholic Church. All those grievous transgressions are another source of their reprobation."
"But what faith can we learn from these false teachers when, in consequence of separating from the Church, they have no rule of faith? ... How often Calvin changed his opinions! And, during his life, Luther was constantly contradicting himself: on the single article of the Eucharist, he fell into thirty-three contradictions! A single contradiction is enough to show that they did not have the Spirit of God. "He cannot deny Himself" (II Timothy 2:13). In a word, take away the authority of the Church, and neither Divine Revelation nor natural reason itself is of any use, for each of them may be interpreted by every individual according to his own caprice ... Do they not see that from this accursed liberty of conscience has arisen the immense variety of heretical and atheistic sects? ... I repeat: if you take away obedience to the Church, there is no error which will not be embraced.

I don't believe "catholics are hellbound and all." Anybody who is regenerated by the Holy Spirit is heaven-bound, and anybody who is not is hell-bound.
Do I believe that many Roman Catholic teachings and beliefs are false? Absolutely. I was brought up RC, but didn't know anything about what my church taught. Later, after being saved, I investigated in depth all of the things you mention and many more. The more I investigated, the more I became convinced of the errors of the RC church.
I don't have the time to recount here all the points, but if you look around a little you'll find lots of discussion of them. For example, aomin.org and http://ntrminblog.blogspot.com/. I know you've been told these these men (James White and Eric Svendsen) are "anti-Catholics", but they are not any such thing. That's Catholic Answers' way of saying "don't read pay any attention to what these guys say because you might learn something - only listen to what we spoon-feed you."

The RC position of good works aided by grace resulting in righteousness before God is one of the main differences that keep me out of the Catholic Church. I do not believe God is bound by man's works in any part of the salvation process. This also differentiates me from Arminian beliefs and the "acceptance" of Jesus Christ as anything more than a misguided response to what God has already done, i.e. provide the regeneration before the faith, not after.
The value of good works leads to the assumption that they can be imputed by the Catholic Church to the souls of those in purgatory out of a "treasury" of sorts earned by Christ and the saints. Again, I do not believe in any property of works to gain any sort of perfection and earning our way into heaven. The Catholic Church has gone so far as to believe that it has gained this perfection and therefore an infallible truth through the pope, all because of a prescient assumption that works merits salvation. And, when the pope speaks ex-cathedra, this means that new revelation is possible. It works for the Roman Catholics, not for me.
As for sins, the RC Church has divided them between mortal, hell-deserving sin, and venial, or "lesser" sins which may result in purgatory if not forgiven. How can anyone can be sure of complete avoidance of purgatory? How can I know if my works could ever be fully acceptable to God, and thus merit Heaven on my own? Only Christ has that capability, and I must claim the righteousness of Christ, not a works-based Church, as justification for my faith.

First off, I have no idea if you are hellbound or not, only God does. Secondly, you seem rather ignorant of your own beliefs as some of the accusations that you say seem ignorant are RC traditions. Educate yourself in what you believe.
The biggest deception of the RC religion lies in using Mary, the pope, saints or sacraments as a means of accessing Jesus whereas the bible states "There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5)
Other traditions rejected by Christians include:
- the doctrine of purgatory after death to purge a person of sin
- prayers to Mary and dead saints to mediate on your behalf
- images to kneel and pray for
- confession to a priest for absolution of sins
- the mass and sacraments as necessary for salvation
- salvation comes only through the Roman Catholic church
- penance and selling of indulgences
- holy water
- canonization of dead saints
I could go on and on but you get the point. If you don't believe saints can answer your prayers, why do RC's pray to them?

I will give you the differances between your authority (The Catholic Catechism) [page numbers in brackets] and the Church's authourity (The Holy Bible).
Salvatioin:
Justification is furthered by sacraments and good works [1212,1392,2010] while the Bible says: Justifcation is the imputation of the perfect righteousness of God ( 2 Cor 5:21)
In Christ the believer has been made complete (Col 2:10)
Justification is lost through mortal sin [1033,1855,1874] The Bible says Justification cannot be lost. Those whom God justifies will be saved from the wrath of God (Romans 5:8,9)
Grace is merited by good works [2010,2027] The Bible says Grace is a free gift (Romans 11:6
Venial sins do not incur eternal punishment [1855,1863] The Bible says every sin is punishable by eternal death (Rom 6:23)
Serious sins must be confessed to a priest [1456-1457] The Bible says sin is to be confessed directly to God (Ezra 10:11)
The priest forgives sin as a judge [1442,1461] The Bible says no one can forgive sin but God alon (Mark 2:7)
No one can know if he will attain to eternal life [1036, 2005] The Bible says the believer can know that he has eternal life by the Word of God (1 John 5:13)
Eternal life is a MERITED reward [1821,2010] The Bible says eternal life is the free gift of God (Rom 6:23)
The Roman Catholic Church is neccessary for salvation [846]
The Bible says there is salvation in no one but the Lord Jesus Christ, "for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved".

Exodus 20:4 "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
In the Bible do you ever see a man of God pray to a dead person? No never. Deut 18:10
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer(communing with the dead).
12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Necromancy is talking with the dead. Which is what praying to Saints is. in the Bible Saints are Christians. that's right all true Christians are Saints. Confession is unnecessary even though the Catholic religion says it is. It is better to confess your sins to the Lord himself rather than a mediator on the Earth. Besides the Bible teaches the real mediator between you and God is Jesus. Catholicism has been a dead Church for a while and will probably never change. Flee from it and just be a Christian.

I"m catholic. I don"t see why we shouldn"t be considered christians. In fact, we"re the only ones who follow the teachings of Christ. Jesus spoke about the Purgatory, Jesus gave the Apostles the supreme authority of Peter, and also the power to forgive sins.
Protestants are just stupid reactionaries. They should read the scriptures more carefully and proselytize less:Let me tell you "christian hedonist" that you need to read the Epistle of Saint James. You are saved IF you believe and ARE CONSISTENT WITH YOUR BELIEFS. Show me your faith without works AND I WILL SHOW MY FAITH WITH MY WORKS .There is no salvation outside the Catholic Church because Christ gave us the guidance of A ROCK called Peter

Boils down to what is your faith in.
Is it the Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone? Do you depend upon His righteousness, His alone? Do you feel that without Catholicism you would not be saved? If you were to die today do you know that you would enter heaven, or is there still some doubt in your heart?
If your complete faith and salvation depends on something else and not on what He did (which you could never equal or repay) then you are heading the wrong way.
Pry open that bible and let it be your authority and KNOW you are saved if you die now, because of Him. Man fails, He never will.
Also your prayers hold just as much power to him as anyone who has ever died before you, because of His love for you.

I was raised catholic and of course you know that in different areas there are heresies practiced along with true doctrine.the problem Ive seen with the catholic church is that the word of God has been diluted with mans doctrines .sometimes its hard to see the coffee for all the cream and sugar, you know?Where you worship is not so important as what.I had a burning desire to know the truth about God and what my relationship should be to him, so i began to study the bible, the more i read the less sense the churches doctrines made.I dint care if youre catholic or morman or what but swallowing any doctrine without testing it against Gods word is foolish.its very simple.all have sinned and come short of the glory of god!--"behold the lamb of god which taketh away the sins of the world! JN.1:29--for god so loved the world.that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.JN.3.16--verily ,verily i say unto you, He that hears my word and believeth on him who sent me,hath everlasting life.and shall not come into condemnation.but is passed from death into life.JN 5:24--verily verily i say unto thee,Except a man be born again he can not see the kingdom of heaven.JN 3:3-- fr there is one god and one mediator between GOD and men, the man Jesus christ.1 TIMOTHY 2:5.I left the church because I felt she had forgtten her first love, that her faith was diluted by mans doctrines and superstitions, that emphasis was on mans works and how well you obeyed mans doctrines rather than on the close relationship of faith and dependance God wants from us.if you know christ as your savior you dont need all that other pomp and circumstance.A religion cant save anyone.only god through jesus christ .pray for enlightenment .study the bible ,if you are sincere God will lead you.

That's exactly what mature Christians are doing, relentlessly and tiredlessly bringing the Good News to the world, just resting long enough to gain enough energy to bring more Good News to the world. Many Christians are leaving comfortable life to go to the remotest areas to live in worldly poverty. Many were killed during their missionary journeys. But for you, fear not for Jesus has redeemed the sins of the world, and has put the ticket to His Home the Heaven in your hand. All you have to do is to believe in Him and agape-love Him, just as you want adults to agape-love you before you adopt them to live in your home for eternity at your cost. Who you would pick as a spouse is the same criteria for people to go to His Home the Heaven. Your heart will also be sanctified to His holiness in the process. Below are links for you to go to Heaven and leave Hell behind.
