They have until the 30th of January 2007 to provide information to you.

YOu can use his last pay stub to gather some information - and you may provide that to the IRS with a letter stating what happened to the company.

Your state taxing authority - through your state's attorney general's office, can find the owners of the company.
The IRS and local taxing authorities (where the business was located) can find them also.

GOD bless.

Does he have a copy of his last paystub? He could use that in place of a W-2 (assuming it really is his last one). As for finding a payroll provider, that seems a bit more difficult. What are you planning to do? Call them all? And are you sure that they didn't do their own payroll?

As a last resort, you could call the IRS and they'll tell you what was reported for your husband's income. But it's likely that they'd only have that after all W-2's are filed, which isn't until the end of February (or the end of March, if they file electronically). And even then, it might be awhile before they'd process it. But if a W-2 was filed for him, they'd certainly have what you'd want, if you could wait that long.

But if you were planning to call payroll providers, you could try ADP. That's the main one I know of. Otherwise, looking in the phonebook might be a good option.

If the company is out of business, they probably were not smart enough to do W-2's. But even if they were, the company has until Jan 31 to mail them out. Just because YOU want to file now does not mean the company has to give the W-2's to you now!

After Feb 15, you can use the last paystub with YTD info on it to file.
