I wanted scriptures because I wanted to see if a person's opinion was based on the bible or their own school of thought or emotions. For me, I was in this situation and as a Christian, I didn't go with my friend. I do however think that we should be there to support our friends and try to pick them up if they do make that decision to carry it out.

Jesus was there for me even though I'd lived a horrible life of sin, so why shouldn't I be there for my friends?

This sounds like a question that is directed for a woman to answer, but I am going to answer it any way. The main idea in Christianity, the bottom line, is the love of God. Would God go with her to an abortion clinic and just let her kill that baby that He is creating inside her?

Ultimately, God has given us free will to choose whatever we want in our lives. He will still love her, no matter what she chooses. But He will not be in agreement with her when she pays a doctor to kill her unborn child for her. I acknowledge that there are extreme cases when hard decisions have to be made and there are times when that is the only reasonable option. But that is a very, very small minority of aborted pregnancies.

You asked for scripture. Twice in Isaiah chapter 44 it says, "Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb..."

In Jeremiah 1:4-5 it says, "Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew you; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."

I don't think that God would go to provide moral support for someone who is turning their back on Him to commit a greivous sin. And I believe that abortion in most cases, is a greivous sin. I would have to tell her that I am sorry she is having a hard time. I would tell her about God's love for her and her baby, and pray for her to have the strength to make the right decision before God. But I would not accompany her to her abortion any more than I would accompany a bank robber to the bank.

Jesus was always there for the non believers with love and truth. Go with her and show her how even in her sin God is always there waiting to forgive and draw her in to Him. Pray with her and for her. Stay by her side while continuing to witness to her. Tell her that God is the God of love, but he is also the God of justice. Which means that while He will forgive her every sin if she ask, he will also allow her to face the consequences of embracing sin. If she lets Him, he will heal her broken heart and help her take care of her baby.

Remember the the prostitute. John 8:10-12

Matthew 9: 10-13
10 Now it happened, as Jesus sat at the table in the house, that behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Him and His disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

If she still wants you to come along with the gospel then go. Maybe she wants to hear it.

I would not support her in her abortion. Psalms 139:13 and 22:10 speak to the idea that her baby is a creation of God.

I would not support her in her decision to murder a child. I would be on my knees crying and begging her to change her mind to give the baby a chance to live! I'd help her anyway I could otherwise, but not with abortion!

Why would she get pregnant if she wasn't intending on raiseing the child? I'm not against abortion, I'm against the idea of women getting pregnant and NOT taking responsibility for their actions. They are the ones who are more prone to cervical and other cancers.

I am a christian, and I don't believe in abortion. But, not for religious reasons. More for the mothers sake and for taking responsibility for their actions. So I really can't give you a religious stance on this one, sorry.

You need to take a long hard think on whether either of you would benefit if you were to refuse going with her.
What's the point?

Proverbs 24:11 Rescue those who are being led away to death! Indeed, hold back those who are staggering to the slaughter!

Try to reason with her. Pray for God's intervention in this situation.

Why do we need to provide scriptures to support our answer?

I would of course let her know my beliefs on the subject, but ultimately it's her free will and not mine, and as good friend, I think it would still be my place to hold her hand and offer hugs through it all.
