This is to show the mercy of god:
When the man who guided the romans to the location of Jesus. The man felt so guilty, and he committed suicide. The god said: if he asked forgiveness i will forgive him if he asked (my most extreme anger is on the one who under-estimate my mercy and forgiveness). can you give other examples about god mercy.

I had typed a nice long answer to this question and everytime that I sent it here, it did not show up for some strange reason. I lost the entire answer in the process. I am not sure if someone is using this way to attack Christians or not but this never happened before.
To get to the point of what I had previously wrote...it is important to get to know God to understand him. Once we understand who God is and have a personal relationship with him, then we understand his qualities like mercy. Some examples in the Bible:
Paul the Apostle. He persecuted Christians to their death.
Peter the Apostle. He denied Christ three times.
Mary Magdalene: She commited adultry.
King David: He commited adultry and murder.
