Its a phase, she is 3 and has no idea that this is not polite, just gently remind her that its not nice, but dont make too big a thing of it or she may just decide that this gets attention and will have a rummage at a really inappropriate time.
If you are worried about this, think yourself lucky you not got a boy, they find their "little men" better than lego to play with!

Some kids just have different quirks give it time or offer her something. Start a sticker program it works for somethings, go out buy some stickers, find an old calendar, and tell her that she has this many stickers for everytime she has her finger in her nose she gets one taken away or that mommy gets a sticker but for anytime her finger is not in her nose then she gets a sticker for her paper all day no finger in nose big shiny sticker, if the finger stays in the nose then no sticker if that doesnt work stick her finger in vanilla extract or a scent that smells bad. Or instead of stickers make coupons that so many points/stickers gets her a trip to a place to play or the golden arches or her favorite place to eat but she cant put her finger in her nose. Give it a try if nothing else it might work i know drs say dont bribe your kids but sometimes you just have to do it.

Same here with my 2 year old. I try to ignore it or distract her with something else as it is just a phase and should pass. The answer about air being dry is plausable too now with the GFCH on 24-7 and worth taking on board. A bowl of water next to the radiator is supposed to help too.

Make sure she doesn't have an adenoids problem as that would cause discomfort and a sense of fulness in her nose. It could also be a nervous tic and drawing attention to it will make her more stressed, so best not to mention it. Make sure she has plenty of busy work to do with her hands - instead of idly watching tv she could be building things with lego etc. As she becomes more engrossed with life, she will lose her obsession with her own body.

Maybe the air in your house is too dry so she feels the need to do a little housekeeping there. Dry air dries out the inside of your nose sometimes making it hard to breathe. Try a humidifier.

Curious ... about nose, belly button, butt, ears, nipples, breasts and all sorts of body parts ... and they laugh about it while we adults turn bright red. Kids have no preconceived notion of what's shameful ... it's all natural for them.
It's just a phase.
I find it's better to wait until some strangers who has good rapport with the kid to say or display their disapproval ... then automatically stops ... or otherwise try to control it. Otherwise, you run the risk of frustrating yourself. They have no clue why...you're. Then why get upset???
Hope this helps.

Get a little packet of tissues for your purse and show her how to blow her nose. When she starts to pick, offer her the tissue and praise her for doing it right. Let her see you and her loved ones using tissue fopr their noses to reinforce the idea. Clue your family and friends in to give her praise for blowing her nose. Dont make a bug fuss when she picks or she will thrive on the negative attention - When she starts to dig, just quietly offer the tissue, help her, and say "good job" when she does it right. Dont worry, people who know kids know that they like to do stuff like this. She WILL get the idea eventually. You will get looks of approval from people for quiety and politely dealing with it in public. (Who can argue with a mom who carries tissues?) One plus: people will treat your child better when they see she is learning a clean habit. God Bless and I hope it works...it did with my little one - he is now happy to blow his little nose. Take care.

cause she can. If you are really worried about it, take her to the dr. she may have something stuck up there that is bothering her, it is worth getting it checked out.
