The business manager at my office spilled grated cheese in my office which is also the lunch room. She will not clean it up. Do I say something to the boss, leave the cheese there on the floor, or clean it up myself?

I would just clean it up myself . Only tell the boss if
he/she asks how the mess happened.

Being as your office also doubles as the lunch room, then I doubt it will be the only time that someone spills food and leaves it.
Unless this is like the 20th time the same person has done it, then just clean it up and say something to them the next time.

Definitely don't go to the boss about this. However, you can go to the boss, when the time is right, and broach the subject of your office has a really distracting problem - it's the lunch room!!

It may be mean, but you could also do this if the spills are ever close to your desk: Take a report or other paper that has to go to the boss, put it in the spill, then turn it in to them. When they asked what the H*** happened to my report/paper, tell them that it blew off the desk and when you went to get it, you found it laying in a mess that someone had left. Back it up by saying that it happens a lot, but this time obviously it has affected your work; you didn't have time to do it over, so you were forced to turn it in as is.
I bet you get knocked back by the wind of the instant memo they send out telling everyone to clean up after themselves in the lunch room!!

Does she know she spilled it and refuses to clean it up? If so, sweep it up and set it in a neat little pile on her desk. I certainly wouldn't leave it as I am sure it is releasing a foul odor. I wouldn't say anything to the boss as it may seem pretty petty, depending on the dynamics of your relationships. If the biggest problem you have at work though is some grated cheese, you got it pretty good, although I am guessing that is not the case.

Dude, your office is the lunch room... I mean ratting out the business manager isn't really going to solve your long term problem, eventually others are going to spill food in your office, the cafeteria :-).

Clean it up. Then tell the manager that you cleaned it up for her, and politely ask that in the future she clean it herself.

****PS why is your office the lunch room???

Sweep it into a dustpan and dump it the woman's office.

Seriously though, your office is the lunch room?? Time to step up and request a change of venue!

If you are the janitor, its your job to clean up. If you do not like to clean up other peoples messes you need another line of work.

Clean it up. Its sucks and its annoying, but if you go running to Boss, he will just get annoyed for you getting him involved in such a petty thing.

Don't say anything as you will sound like a whiner. Pick up what you can and leave what you cannot for the cleaning crew.
