My dad said I could get a tattoo and I'm 16. He also said he would sign any papers needed to get it. Most places I've tried have said no even with parental permission. SOMEONE HELP!!!

I would check state laws and make sure there is nothing against it (there shouldn't be, but you never know). Also, each shop has a right to say no to minors. Generally tattoo artist see kids as being a bit indecisive and wanting tattoos for all the wrong reasons. Some studies show most people are not mentally fit to make life altering choices until they are around 25 years of age. I'm not saying you will regret it, just that at 16 I wanted a few tattoos and by the time I was old enough to get them I had completely changed my mind.

Only thing you can do it keep trying shops or you'll just have to wait.

i guess it depends on what state you live in. where i live you can get one with parental consent but i guess maybe you live in a state that does not allow underage people to have them. i am glad that my parents didn't allow me to get a tattoo when i was your age. i have changed SO much in the past 9 years. i am not the person now that i was then. i don't have the same taste in music, friends, movies... pretty much everything has changed. i would advise waiting. i got a tattoo at 18 and even the difference in myself between then and now is amazing. i have since gotten my first three tattoos (all done when i was 18) covered up with bigger better ones.

good luck in whatever you decide tho!

These laws are in place because a 16 year old is not in the right frame of mind to make such a momentous decision and you are young and your body is still growing and changing.

Its ironic really when you consider the destructive things other kids your age are doing.

Almost all tattoo parlors refuse minors with or without a parent in some places it is now a state law! Wait it out see if you want the same tat your interested now in two years... I doubt you will! Im not sure any of you are aware of this that no respectable artist wants to tattoo a minor... Do your research!

dont you think its for a reason that they wont tattoo someone as young as 16 even with parental consent?! honestly think about it, they dont just put a random age just for giggles...its for health reasons not to mention tryin to avoid those young people from just gettin a tattoo to be "cool".
just be patient and wait it out...during this time...think of the tattoo you want...and make sure that it is something that you wont regret 10-15 years from now.

Take a trip to Europe. All your needs will be met. Without stupid restrictions. Take your dad with you too. He'll love it.

I spent 30 years in the Navy and saw many of my shipmates get tatoos and every one of them wished they had not. Why do you want to scar your body permanently? It is NOT COOL to permanently mark your body or even grosser, pierce holes through your skin. God made you beautiful, why mess with perfection.
