if the govt legalizes same sex marriages/civil unions? i know it seems i'm on a gay kick but there have been many questions on the subject today, and a lot of lame answers as to why it should not be allowed.

First of all, it should have been called "legalized unions",but it wasn't. I'm straight and my husband and I just got married after 11 years of living together. If the government would have worded things differently, everyone would not be in such an uproar. I believe that whether you are heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or anything else, with a partner for a long time (okay the government wants a number) I don't know what number that would be..okay let's say 5. You should be able to talk FOR that person.

I think that society tries to force down everyone's throat (no pun) that gay is cool, and all girls should be bi, and guy guys are just too cute with how they hop around and decorate homes. Homosexuality in America was at its best when everyone, hetero and homosexual chose to keep their sexual preference and bedroom habits, in their bedroom.
Nobody needs a frickin Gay Parade to market their perversion.
It's the promotion of homosexuality that people see on TV and in the movies that is making more gay-curious or straight people think there's something wrong with them if they don't have homo experiences. It's disgusting. Legalizing gay marriage is one step towards that miserable fate.

Yes, more people will CHOOSE to be gay if it's legalized.
As for people being born gay like you believe that would make it genetic correct? How do they procreate to create more gays? I think their heterosexual parents would be quite surprised to find out they are gay also. Get a grip on reality.

Christ is about Unity. Evil is about division.
If evil has it's way, making people angry over perceptions
of an unforgiving and vengeful God. I imagine men and
women will become more divided. Giving rise to the likelihood they will turn to their own for sexual
gratification. Whether some are born that way or not!

Only if a big tax break comes with it!
I don't get why people are so dead set against gay marriage either.
They can't do any worse at it then we do -- look at the divorce rate!
In fact, I hope someone keeps careful count when it is legalized (I say optimistically) so we can see that they do better at monogamy than we do!

I would be really, really surprised if very many straight people decided to go gay. Some of them might experiment a bit and some gays who were in the closet might come out, maybe.
But people tend to be what they are. I can't imagine "changing" just like I can't imagine too many gays "changing".
We is what we is.

No babes it doesn't work like that. Just because its legal to marry someone of the same sex doesn't mean we are going to all change and do so. Its just giving everybody the same rights in law. You are born with the sexual orientation you are.

Honey, people don't turn gay, they either are or they aren't. Legalizing gay marriage has to do with giving them the same rights as the rest of American citizens have.

It won't "turn" people gay. As far as I know, you can't just turn gay. I would've gladly been gay if it was a choice, but I have to put up with dating stupid members of the opposite sex . . . well, I digress. But, no, no one will "turn" gay or catch gay or develop gay.

If I see one more thread about how men should be able to force women to have their babies, then I'm going to "turn gay" just to protect my womb from unwanted intrusion.
But, outside of that, no. I think it's obvious to everyone BUT the Christians that being gay is not a choice - it's something you're born to be.
I don't think they're afraid of more gays. I think they're afraid of more openly gay gays.
