It becomes a permanent part of the pharmacy's records, just as the fact that the doctor wrote it for you is a permanent part of his records. As to the actual paper, that is so seldom used these days that I expect it is not retained for very long. It's all data base records now. And for a chain store, that means your records are available at that same chain where you are going when you move or travel.

they file them away so they can look back at it if there is ever a problem or a question about it. i was a pharmacy technician for two years.
