Not really. However, some people consider the massive mounds (Ziggaurts) found in ancient Babylonia to be the "Tower". However, there are several of these massive structures (not one as the story implies). Also, linguists have always pointed out that language has more in common with each other than first thought.
However, the point of the story is not if it is factually true. There is a lot we don't understand about the actual history of biblical accounts. God doesn't care too much about history. If He did, He would have provided a more historical record than He did. Instead, we have stories that are similar to actual historical events, but told to help us understand something more about ourselves and our relationship with God. These are moral stories meant to teach moral truth, not historical stories meant to teach historical truth.
But to answer your question, there is no real archaeological support for the story.

there is linguitic support. People who study language also study the languages roots and while they all go back in the direction of bable there are at least 7 distinct starting points, that is when they back track they end up with 7 or more starting points and say these languages are nothing alike. Study up dates and everything seem to fit for the story of which you ask.

Yes there is proof of the tower and there are ruins of it.

And yes there are many evidences of the Jews wandering in the wilderness, also Mount Sinai and the idol that they made at the foot of the mountain.

Do your homework.

I've certainly never heard of any.

Also, if God's the type to get offended by tall buildings reaching to the heavens, why doesn't he bring down sky scrapers nowadays?

I've read that there's no support for half a million people wandering in the Sinai desert for 40 years, either, but the Christians don't seem to care. :(

Weren't the pyramids taller and weren't they supposed to be dedicated to (gasp) heathen gods? Instead of letting them exist for thousands of years, shouldn't an all-powerful deity take care of them?
To 'Christian hedonist-do your homework...'? Where's the evidence that you've done any?
