Jesus' life, betrayal, suffering, death and Resurrection where the divine means of God redeeming sin full, fallen man back to Himself. Sin has a penalty, death. Sin is the transgression of the absolute perfect moral law of God, that is an affront to His Holy and Righteous character. When you speed through a stop sign you are ticketed. You must then in due time answer for your crime, usually a fine. You pay the fine, lose a couple of points but all is generally OK. When you sin a against God you get a ticket that you cant pay, a death sentence. Jesus, being very God Himself, paid the price that the perfect, just, holy law demanded. The loving mercy of God provided a payment for the penalty that was demanded when we sinned against the righteous holiness of God. Had Jesus not actually been God, he could not have even redeemed himself never the less all mankind. The likelihood is that none of it will ever make any sense to you until you start to experience the weight of your sin. Once the patient knows he is sick, he looks for the doctor.

After God revealed himself to Moses he told Moses that the sins of the Jews can only be forgiven through shed blood. That was the basis of many of the Mosaic laws. Telling what animal to sacrifice for what sin and how many. Of course God couldn't let that be the only way. So he had Himself come down to Earth which was planned since before God created the Universe, His Son to make the biggest sacrifice. The sacrifice that would cover all sins for all the human race through his shed blood on the cross as long as a person is willing to accept that that is why Jesus died.

God is a just god. The only sacrifice that was good enough to atone for the sins of the world was Jesus' since He was without sin. That's why He is called the Lamb of God. Since He took the punishment that we deserve for our sins, we can now have the opportunity to be reconciled with God if we make Jesus the Lord over our life.

~~~ Kimo,,, Look up your Symbolism in Comparitive Mythology of the role of a 'World Savior' (there are several which predate christianity by thousands of years) and the role of 'the cross' specifically. Only when you get the Full Perspective and Context of the Symbolism, will it make ANY sense. Remember though, that The Crucifixion is only a single symbolic event in the 'life' of a Symbolic Icon, and for the event to make sense it should be taken in the context of The Whole.
Jesus' death on the cross was just "hear say", no one have ever saw it, or if anyone who saw it already passed away thousands years ago. By saying Jesus's death on the cross made it more dramatic, but how true, no one know.
yeah e i think it doesn't mean the forgiveness of all sins. with all my respect but the forgiveness of all the sins of people is much worth than the tormenting of somebody.or his death
God is a just God, as well as Merciful. He cannot pardon sins without punishment. For instance, what would happen if a judge on earth were to set a known thief free?
Since God needed Justice done, he sent his son down to earth to pay the penalty of our sins. It was somthing we can never fully pay. God is infinite, man is finite. so God was only one who could pay for our sins.
It was in the garden where he bled(during the prayer) that he supposedly paid for all sins not on the cross.
