It probably varies from dog to dog.

But since dogs don't exactly understand why it hurts, they're likely more akin to children flying on planes. They go crying whining and complaining.

Dogs don't show weakness as a rule if they can help it, but I'm sure it hurts them too. At least it is only temporary.

I'd assume so, so if you find you and your dog in that situation, give them something they can chew on to help with the preasure because they won't know to move their jaw to help.

I would think so, their senses are more sensitive that humans are anyway.
