You only drift from God when you don't maintain a close relationship with Him. That means communicating with Him daily and praying often. You have to be in His Word a lot to be able to maintain that relationship.

Who and What is God? Can you prove God? Do we just rely on something that may not exist just to feel secure and feel heard? Do we just believe there is God because we were told to believe in God from the beginning? Do we believe in God because more then half of the world's population believe in God and it "seems" reasonable? People believed the world was flat, but this was proved wrong...can it be the same with "God"??? These and may more questions make some people question God's existence. I don't know if there is a God or not but believeing in God gives me security. I do believe in God but still am unsure of his/her existence.

They drift away because they learn better than living according to silly religious fantasies. They develop a genuine sense of morality instead of the amorality of their former religion. They find out that the world is a far larger and spectacular place than any religion has ever dared call it and want to understand it, which they can't do if the answer to every question is 'goddidit!'
Christianity and Islam are nothing more than Stockholm Syndrome, only the person supposedly holding the gun to your head is going to wait until you die to really kill you.

People "drift" from God because their beliefs change.
When you were a child, surely you believed that their were monsters under the bed and that Santa Claus was real. Why did you drift from those beliefs?

When people have what they want, or everythings going well, they forget about God, forget to pray, etc. It's when people are suffering, hurt, messed up that they come crying back to God, and God being ever merciful and loving takes them back.

You are arguing at cross purposes. "Knowing" means you think. "Faith" is lack of thinking. "God" is strictly faith therefore I am not "Drifting" because I do not know better. I am "Drifting" because I DO know better - I think.

if "God" is omnipresent then there's nowhere to drift where "God" is not.
"drifting" away from religious dogma and preconceived ideas of deity is intellectual/spiritual evolution.

Because it's easy to believe in things you can physically see. If you can't see Him, it's difficult to believe that He exists so people stop making the effort.

Actually the reason I left believing in your god is because I do know better.
