Surely we are our own judge and juror. Religion spawns evil. Yes i do have kids. Five of them. And i would never instill guilt into their souls.

Religion doesn't spawn evil. Religion points out the good and the bad. It is man that twist religion, and man that blames good for evil. Religion also answers questions like where did we come from, where will we go when we die?
As for being your own judge, your sorta right. You will be judged as you judge.
As for your children, I like that your doing what you think is best, even though you are wrong. Christianity is not about guilt, but about love and good.
As for instilling guilt, the only thing that can instill guilt is the idea that they've done wrong. So the only way to raise a child that won't feel guilt is to raise one w/o a concept of right and wrong. And that is evil.

I don't know your question...you stated that religion spwans evil.i don't think so.religion itself is not evil but people who practice such religion which is not biblical is evil.some beliefs or religion are manmade doctrine.they go beyond the extreme.they have rituals and even offer human sacrifes.i don't know why many follow this kind of religion(cult).
of course we don't have the right to judge other's belief.christians take the responsibility to reach them and nurture the Truth in their heart.Jesus had a compassion to the lost.they are like sheep without shepherd.what can a man gain if he lost his one and only soul.
I'm also a mother and i love my kids.parents should bring their children up in good instruction and teaching the right conduct....teach a child while he is still young and when he grow up he will not depart from it.my kids fear the Lord!and i thank God because i have a christian family...

Have you read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins ?

It's an excellent book about atheism, and would appeal to your beliefs.

I agree about not instilling guilt as well.

Well done.

Followers of religion need it SOOOOOO much as a means of release for the weeks evilness that they commit.. a sort of physcological thought process that one good hour in a church cancels out the bad things they do each week

Everyone judge themselves? Everyone decide for themselves what is right and wrong?
That's a recipe for moral breakdown. It's a prevalent view and look where it's leading us in UK - more crime, more family breakdown, more drug usage, more gambling, more sexual depravity.

Truth is we *are* all guilty. We are all sinful.
But we don't need to wallow in it because Jesus died for everyones' sin. Believe in Jesus and he takes away the just penalty for our sin.
