It's over 2000 years old, and it is in places very out of date with modern life.

There is also some good ideas though, judge not least ye be judged, love thy neighbour.

It's self-contradictory and easy to interpret differently between people. This fundamental nature of the bible breeds conflict. People often just use what parts of the bible suits them for their own ends and discard the rest, or call upon it if needed. If all christians followed the bible explicitly, none of them would own property.

It depends on what you are using it for, you could use like many do to control others to do what you want them to do, you could read it and try to find out what has God said, and what has man changed, if you just read it like so many do, its a story book, but what you should do is question the contents of the book to find the true meaning of God, and not mans words

One problem is that it contains lots of different kinds of writing including history, handed down myths, prophesy and stories with a meaning. It cannot just be taken at face value

Some people use it whilst believing it is true, rather than the truth - which is that it is only fiction.

A form of self brainwashing for the insecure. That is the problem.

language has changed and it can not be fully understood in translation. certain parts of the bible are out of date. like advice on purchasing slaves and burning witches. also none of the bible was eritten during the life of jesus.

2. Its been re written lots of times
3. Some of the gospels are missing fromthe original texts
4. It was edited.

The biggest problem is not trusting that it is correct.
Too many people think they know better than God, and (for example) he can't possibly have meant that he created the universe in 6 days.

Well I think God has an excellent command of language, and says exactly what he means to say, and means what he says!
