The Voila! meals are REALLY tasty--made with good, fresh ingredients in lots of tasty combinations. Helper meals taste good, but are frequently made with a lot of preservatives and not so nutritionally beneficial ingredients (throw in a pound of ground beef, and you're not really helping things).
Haven't tried the meal in a crock pot.

The frozen meals I prefer are the Bertolli pasta meals. They have minimal ingredients, low calories, fat and sodium. They are really tasty ($4.99 at walmart, $6.99 at grocery stores) and my kids like them too. Lean Cuisine makes really good chicken and pasta meals as well. I have a membership at a "big box" store and they sell REALLY big packages for $8.99 that is good for a 4-person family + leftovers.
The frozen meals for crock pots are actually not very good. I bought 3- a turkey, a chicken and a beef. None were good enough to recommend. Hamburger helper is pretty gross but I grew up eating it and about once a year I crave beef noodle.
The frozen veggie stir fry's from companies like bird's eye have a LOT of water in them so if you can thaw the veggies and rinse them and shake off the water before you toss them in the wok it makes a huge difference.

We do a few different Hamburger Helper/Chicken Helper meals. There are also some boxed meals for chicken and stuffing (I think made by Campbells?) that are good. We used to do some of the frozen bag meals but they are expensive and aren't big enough for our family so that's rare.....only if something is on sale. We buy a lot of stuff from Market Day at my daughter's school. (Chicken nuggets, teriyaki chicken, crab cakes, shrimp, etc.)

I have tried them all and they suck. the crock pot ones are so salty and my husband says they taste like they came out of a can. They all seem convienient but you are better off eating frozen tv dinners if you are looking for frozen stuff. None of it tastes "home made" by any means. A good cookbook for FAST dinners is:
Sandra Lees Semi-Homemade Meals in 20 minutes. Uses convience foods but jazzes them up to taste great in a hurry. There is a recipe in it for ribs that my husband loves!
I also love the "dinner tonight" section of Cooking Light magazine

All full of preservatives and nasty stuff. When I am in need for something quick, I always have Annies boxed meals that are organic. They are prepared just like hamberger helper. They have a lasgana one, stroganoff, herb and cheese etc. I make stir fry from scratch..it's easier, cheaper and heathier. I just use a bag of oriental veggies and throw in some chopped garlic and teriyaki.

I like Marie Calender, but for the price of one of her bags of stew, i can make my own for less.
I hate hamburger helper but we buy it for when my husband has to work out of town and will be home late late and the meal i cook isn't worth heating up, so i buy my meats and doughs and such for my small meal and my husband likes to have hamburger helper for when he gets home real late. It's rare but it's something.
The banquet crockpot stews are pretty good too but i wind making extra potaotes to my size and i add extra meats too, they can be pretty skimpy on them.

The crock pot ones are great, especially when one is short on time! Chicken dumpling is my favorite.
