That is one of the purposes of the Bible to acquaint us with the knowledge of what is sin. That is the biggest reason why people are against the Bible, just look at how homosexuals respond to the Bible teaching about that. The natural man wants to excuse and ignore sin within himself, but the Bible is there to point out what we do that is sin.
Romans 3:20 because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

I get a kick out of people calling Christians "self-righteous" when real Christians know that they are only going to heaven by the righteousness of Christ, and then they have the ironic statement of saying statements like "All you have to do is be good" or "I'm not as bad as..." or "I just follow the golden rule" or "I try not to hate anybody". THESE are ALL self righteous statements! They can't see that in their answers they are relying on THEIR actions to offer to God to be judged by. And the sad things is, they will be judged by their actions, and they will be found wanting.
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Well you are right. The Bible says "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." The Bible does very much teach that we all deserve to go to hell. God loved us so much that he sent his one and only Son to die for our sins so we won't have to go to hell. You are very right. We cannot be righteous unless God imputes it on us and only that can be done by first being a Christian. Anything else is self righteousness and good deeds done to make us feel better which in God's eyes are pointless and dead. I definetaly see that I am a sinner. That understanding is necessary in order to become a Christian.

Okay, yes, I can see my own sin.
I was born out of wedlock, lived abused physically, mentally and emotionally as a child, had sex before marriage and got pregnant & married too young, divorced, had another kid out of wedlock and remarried. I have been known to swear on occasion and think evil thoughts about those with whom I butt heads.
I am human, by definition that means I am a sinner by nature.
I work daily to improve myself and be the person I really wish to be.
Does that better answer your ?
You should never, however, put yourself "below" anyone in importance. You at least realize you are a sinner - if you have this much of an issue with yourself why not try to change it to become someone YOU can be proud of?

All who have accepted that they are a sinner and have accepted the path to God through Jesus have a perspective on their sins. It is when we realize this that we are more able and willing to accept the path to God that is freely given and offered to all mankind.
If you truly realize how unworthy you really are to be able to have a personal one on one relationship with the Living God and the Creator of the entire universe and all of the life in it you have some understanding of forgiveness. Forgiveness is the greatest gift you will ever have, whether it is being received or given. Forgiveness is a result of perfect love. As our relationship grows with our heavenly Father and our understanding of what perfect love really is our perspective on sin takes on clarity. Anything that seperates us from God is sin. These can be your doubts, fears, insecurities and even your apathy.
Since you have accepted the free gift of grace have you also followed through and asked Jesus to become the Lord of your life as well? Many want to accept the free gift and conveniently forget that there is more to the choice of choosing to accept that God is who He says He is and that a personal relationship with God has been initiated. As in all relationships that have value they require effort from both sides. Having accepted forgiveness for your sins do you believe the God that you believe in?

The Bible says that the better we know God, the more we see our own sin. I see my own sin, but I know I have a long way to go before I see myself in God's eyes -- both in terms of my value (He LOVES us! He died for us while we were still sinners!") and in terms of how I cannot possibly measure up to His standard of holiness, righteousness, and perfection.
I pray every day that God will show me the hidden sinful parts of myself. Why? Because man was created to bring pleasure to God (note I did not say "to PLEASE God" -- big difference and another post entirely) and to glorify Him. I am not fulfilling the purpose He created me for if I am entrenched in sin and not bringing pleasure to and glorifying Him.
Everything I've written here is straight out of the Bible and the scripturally-based phenomenal book, The Purpose Driven Life, which every human on earth ought to read. It is changing my life, LITERALLY.
God bless you!

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.We die out to sin daily (1Cr 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily). I pray every day and ask God to search me out and forgive me of my secret faults. We all have them. Only one is perfect! Our Lord and Savior. We must ask forgiveness daily. I think you had a very good question. Take care. I will remember you in my prayers.

Thank you for the explanation, God bless you. I can certainly see the sin in myself each day. God knows that we are all sinners, despite our good nature, good works, gentle words, etc.
It is hard to be sinless, so our God who is loving and forgiving, understands us and our weakness. God sends out others to intersect in our lives and show us a new way. Sometimes, they are members of our family, friends or neighbors. These "angels" were not just coincidental, but chosen by God to show us right from wrong, good from bad, etc. If we disapprove of someone's violent or disturbing behavior, God places them in front of our eyes to show us what He DOESN'T want us to do. It disturbs you so that you take notice and will therefore monitor your behavior and words in front of others.
I respect you immensely for admitting your sinful self, as I have done, but commend you for taking stock of your self and believing that through Jesus Christ's love and grace, you will be saved!
Let us forgive one another and help one another to grow in a positive, loving way...that is what REALLY pleases God.
God bless you in everything that you do!
