Isn't that enough to get regular Christians to try harder?

This is a good question (better than at first glance). What I think you are saying is this: Christianity is a religion. A religion is a human instititution originally designed to worship and understand G*d. However, like any human institution, it is flawed and becomes more political than we would like.

Christian churches are, in some respects, no different than the Shriners, Masons, City Council, Bowling League, etc. It is a human institution and so we have "problems".

It's interesting that the people who sit at the front on Sunday mornings are many times the most depraved (and thus in need of "salvation"). The ones in the very back tend to be the "rebels" and also need to be there as well but for different reasons.

This is a generalization of course but, based on my experience, tends to be a fairly correct generalization.

"Regular" Christians, in my opinion, are usually "true" Christians who are not there to impress anyone nor are they there in some kind of "secret" rebellion. They are just regular folks who seek solace within their faiths at Church.

I thought the whole point was to live a Christian life so others see the change in you. Live by example right not where you sit. Really as long as you attend church I really don't think God cares where you sit.

What should get the regular christians to try harder is the message that they get from the service not where they sit.

Philippians 2:9-13

9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Shining as Stars
12Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

I was not aware that there was any such thing as a super Christian. We are all members of the body of Christ and therefore equally subject to the law of Christ, which is love.

No, it's a traditional thing. If one follow traditions all the time, there's no opportunity for growth. Don't look at the outward appearance, look what's within.
