Not only is the body a temple, but gluttony is a sin. It's not a sin to be fat but it is a sin to eat unhealthy and overeat. Remember that some people are overweight because of medical conditions.

The Bible speaks against GLUTTONY as a reason that being fat is wrong. While I am a large person, I don't go around sucking up everything in sight! Besides, what about people who put on weight due to medical problems? Are they hell-bound over a body they cannot control? I hope not, for there would be nothing but skinny people in Heaven, because salvation wouldn't be attainable for fat people unless they slimmed down first! Therefore, the sin is in eating JUST FOR THE SAKE OF EATING and not over simply being "fat". You may call it a "cop-out" if you like, but just because I'm big doesn't mean I cannot be saved.

Hmmm is it against Christianity to be a bad speller? (read your own question Dave). Good grief... who cares about such a silly thing? It sounds like another .. "I am better than fat people because not only are they fat, they are sinning too! Thank God I am almost perfect!" Allah/God, thank heavens, is more open in what matters to him. He sees beyond the flesh and into the spirit. It is deeds and actions towards the world, not weight, that matters in His eyes. If you are so concerned, open up a gym for fat people and "do it for Jesus"! Now THAT is a concept for you... a line of gymnasiums for fat Christians. If you cannot borrow your local church for this, you could decorate the interior with religious paraphernalia and whip the fatties to greater efforts, reminding them that if they do not lose the fires of hell will be worse! Do you think super-sizing is the work of the great Shaytaan?

First if you are a Christian why would you refer to others as fat? The same bible that states "treat your body like a temple" also says to love one another and not to judge others. I don't think referring to another person as a "fat Christian" is very nice. Second, don't forget some people have medical conditions that cause them to put on weight easier than others. I have read that people may over eat to mask their feelings from things that have happened in their past, such as sexual abuse. I'm sure if someone looked over your life they would find some imperfections as well. And no I am not fat, and I wouldn't use terms that would hurt others feelings.

It's not a straightforward answer. You are not supposed to do things against your body to dimininsh it's capacity to host the Holy Spirit. Chiristianity is not that straightfoward though.
Romans 12:1 says to treat out bodies as temples.
But Romans 14 tells us that if we do things that we consider to be holy and we are fine with it then it's ok. So long as we really feel that it's ok. I would strongly reccoment that you read Romans 14. It will open your eyes about judging each other's beliefs and thoughts.
If you feel that it's ok be fat and a good christian that it's fine.
If you feel that you need to be slim and a christian that it's ok too.
The key with Christianity is not to judge one another but to first look to remove the log in our own eyes, then we can look to remove the splinter from our brother's eye.
God Bless my friend

Hello Big Dave
Some temples are fat some temples are thin
Don't matter what food enters in
Drugs Booze and all kinds of food
Seems to make the temple rude
The moral of the story seems to be
Don't open your mouth unless its a pea.
Hope you like the poem
The best solution is not to eat anything unless it's as small as a pea.
Have fun with the answers.
kind regards

People will judge others when they are overweight when they might be taking meds or have a thyroid that is causing them to be heavy. I also have met vegetarians that were overweight they just ate a lot of stuff that was high in calories.
I can't think of a single person, other thana sumo wrestler that goes out of his way to eat to be fat.
Sometimes you have more on your mind than what you consume. You eat when your hungry and sometimes eat when your not hungry.
Your not doing these things to displease God it just sort of happens.
When people figure it out that they need to lose its rough going and maybe exercise and eating less is your penance?

Hey I bet good money at least 100 people (likely more) have been brutally murdered by religous fanatics for being grotesquely obese.
Im talking about over the last 2000 years.
christians are cool with murdering people different than themselves.
Not all christians of course.
Many have unknowingly incorporated athiest and eastern philosophy ideals into the belief system.
Whatever's convenient.
Whatever is popular.
Fat people are soft and squishy.

You forgot depression. One of the biggest reasons people are fat is because they are depressed.
The so called anti-depressant drugs dont always help - some drugs actually stimulate the appetite so they keep eating.
Drug companies are so greedy.
