The properties of charcoal is to absorb toxins in gas form. I don't care about the fresh breath thing or about drinking and driving. THAT IS NOT MY CONCERN, I Want to know the POSSIBILITY. Anyone can come up with "Just don't drink and drive." lol - is it possible that the charcoal can absorb enough toxin? If so, how much? On myth busters, eposide 6, they tested a penny, mouthwash, food, Of course, an officer can always request a blood test for alcohol content (no one has mentioned that yet), but I just want to know about the breathalyzer. Please exclude your thoughts on sobriety, as that is not the issue.

Best way to beat a breathalyzer is to refuse to take it, get a shark lawyer, and attack the cops' procedures/testing/methods, etc.

Activated Charcoal Breathalyzer

The "Mythbusters" program on the Discovery Channel did a show about this. They tried everything from activated charcoal to breath mints, and absolutely NOTHING beat the Breathalyzer.

The only way to beat the Breathalyzer is not to even try.

Nope. The breathalyzer picks up the alcohol from breath expelled from your lungs and you have no way of filtering that. It doesn't matter how fresh your breath smells, the test would still catch it.

Unless you plan on breathing through the charcoal while blowing into the breathalyzer (good luck!) you have no chance, even if you managed that you'd have minimal chance..

No, the only way to fool a breathalyzer is to not drink. It really is the best way to do it. Don't drink and drive.

Interesting question. It seems improbable. And your black mouth and teeth might tip off the cop if you get stopped.

No, and if you are willing to chew charcoal to keep from getting a DUI, you need to get some serious help
