Its bin two months now since it started. I have a noise in my ear that sounds like the ocean but i can only hear it when its really quiet. Ive bin to the doctors 5 times with it one say an infection the other a wax build up. I went to see a female doctor and she is refering me to the hospital for a hearing test as she couldnt find nothing wrong with my ears. The symptoms are noises in my left ear when its quiet. Pain inside the earwhen when ive bin out in the cold. And some days it just feels slightly muffeld. I have to wait another 6 weeks for my hearing test as i live in the uk u have to be referd u cant just go. Im worried that i will losed my hearing. Will I and do u no anymothds to help the uncomfortable noises and pains????

It could be any number of things...sinus pressure, ear infection, fluid build up behind the eardrum, or wax build up. Sounds to me like it's probably an infection since you say you have pain too. The first doctor I went to about my similar problem told me that I didn't have an infection either. I had the pressure and fluid in my ears for so long that it eventually did turn into an infection. A good, strong round of anibiotics cleared me right up! I wouldn't worry too much about losing your hearing permanently, but it may be a little muffled for a while. Try taking some sinus decongestants in the mean time and make sure you keep your appointment for the hearing test. You can also try sweet oil to help the pain in your ear. It will probably pass in time. If you're really worried and don't want to wait for the test, I would go see an Ear,Nose, and Throat specialist. Good luck to you.
