I would walk up and say Hi. If she says hi back and seems genuinely interested, I would ask her if she would like to sit down and drink the beverage. Start asking her questions, nothing too personal, and be engaging, but not like a weird stalker. Make her feel comfortable and see if she reacts to your advances. If she doesn't seem interested, like she keeps looking around or she seems uncomfortable, say "well, I better get going, would you mind if I called you sometime and maybe we could meet here again".

The only way to make this successful....either at Starbucks or anywhere else.....is to not care what other people think. You will be nervous and that is a big turn off.

Never approach a woman anywhere with the idea of sitting down and having a long conversation and then a date. Make it short and sweet and walk away with a phone number or e-mail. And never hang around after you do this. Come in..spot the woman you would like to know....go over and talk a bit then be on you way. When about to leave the conversation turn back and ask if she has e-mail. Have pen and pencil ready for her to write it down. Just ask if she has e-mail. If she says yes get the paper out and pen and place it in from of her. Don't ask for permission just do it.

Once you have your order leave. This creates the image that you are a man on the go....busy. And it creates mystery in her mind and women love that. Then contact her within the next two days to make a date. Never go beyond two days as she may forget who you were. Never call right away as you will appear to eager.

Confidence and being funny are the two qualities you need. And practice...practice...practice.

humor works for me! Go up to her and with a slight smile, ask her if she can point you to the section of books relating to meeting cute girls at starbucks. If she doesn't react well to you, then say something like "well nevermind, I mean, hey, what are the odds of any cute girls coming in here anyway..".. then just walk away. :)

honestly this may seem really obvious but ask her something that you are genuinely interested in hearing the answer to and actually LISTEN to her response, when the conversation progresses, be sure to comment on her answer so that she is aware that you not only listened but RETAINED her information for later use. nothing more flattering than someone who actually cares about what you're saying not just the way your boobs bounce under your shirt when you talk....
