My 3 year old has been battling what I think is a cold since xmas. I took him to see a doctor about 3 days ago and they gave him a antibiotic called erythromycin, which he has never had before, and yesterday he woke up with a fever of 99.8 and carried it all day and then he devoloped this rash all over his body that looks like sunburn and now today he had a fever of 101.2. Do you think this is a reaction to the meds?

Yes! Call your doctor immediately. The same thing happened to my sister when she had penicillin.

When my son was little he had a similar thing happen. I took him to the doctor but this was an office that had many doctors and you saw a different one just about every visit. So my son was sick and we took him into the doctors and they gave him antibiotics and within 24 hours he had a huge fever and a rash so bad he couldn't close his legs. So back to the doctor we went. We saw a different doctor that time and they said he should have NEVER been given that medication at his age. I would be on the phone right now instead of on yahoo. Your doctor needs to see him. Something is wrong and it does sound like an allergy. My son is also allergic to peanuts. When he gets them his tempature sky rockets and he breaks out all over. Get that child to the doctor or the ER NOW. It could be very dangerous for him.

It could be a reaction - but fever doesn't usually accompany allergies - but it could be a virus. (Why you got antibiotics for a cold, I don't know - colds are viruses and there's no antibiotic that will cure a virus.)

It's a good idea to STOP giving the antibiotic and see the doctor today.
