Eve was never forbidden to eat from the tree. Adam was told to not eat from it. A huge assumption is made that what applies to Adam also applies to Eve. Read carefully.

Whoever wrote the story needed the tree as a plot device. Remember that the point of the story was to portray god as a good guy and blame the ills of the world on human beings. If the story were written today, the snake/Satan would probably be replaced by a Muslim or atheist or liberal.
Needless to say, this is not nearly the least believable part of the Bible.

Because God loves his children so much that he gave us agnecy to choose for ourselves. Adam and Eve never would have been able to CHOOSE to obey that command or not obey it had it not been available to them. The object of thier "falling from paradise" was to become mortal so that they could sire children. God also commanded them to "multiply and replenish the earth". Their mission was a VERY important one, because they are the Father and Mother of the entire human family. Because of it's importance, they had to make the choice. They chose to become mortal and sire children - it was meant for them to CHOOSE mortality...of course Satan was ignorant of this when he tempted Eve. Neither Adam nor Eve were stupid, they knew what they were doing. Also, we don't know how long they were actually in the garden before they made that choice...they may have deliberated over it for a long time before the serpent came along and tipped the scales (pardon the pun). =) That's all I have, hope it helps.

I wouldn't take it all too seriously if I were you.
Most of the bible stories, especially in the Old Testament are glorified fairy stories with maybe a tiny hint of truth made up mainly by the wise of the communities when asked questions. Like why is their a rainbow?........Tale of Noah and the Ark etc etc etc

More's to the point why did Eve eat in disobedience to an all loving and all good God ?
Isn't it only right and grateful and honourable to obey the One Who gives you life and happiness and all good things and shares His glory with you ?
We are told that she was deceived as you appear to be. Isn't it typical of fallen and sinful humans to blame a perfect and holy, all wise and all beneficent God for their own wretchedness. Blame anyone else but never themselves. That doesn't absolve you.
But it is Adam who must take the representative responsibility since he was first created and Eve was created for him.

God gave us the choice to obey Him or not. Just like He gave us the choice to love Him or not. He could have made us all robots, and forced us to behave in certain ways, but He didn't.
Think of the people that love you. Aren't you glad that they love you because they want to rather than because they have to?
Christianity is all about having a relationship with the God of all creation. And that relationship is available to all who beliee on Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9

Why is this outrageous!? This situation is before every person, everywhere, virtually all of the time. There is something that every person sees and wants and desires and knows they can't have.
