I don't know the answer, I'd assume it's that he can't. But to those people that said obituary and sign language. THE GUY IS BLIND. HE CANNOT READ NOR SEE SIGNS.
But if he did, i think the mute man would lead the b/d guy to his father after him being asked. Unless the mute and the sightless/hearingless man are the same guy?

He would not be able to tell him so much as show him by touch.
The blind/deaf man should be able to tell it was his father just by touch and it should not take much to get them to understand that their father has stopped breathing. Although whether or not the blind/deaf man understands the meaning of death I cannot answer as it would depend on how much they have been taught.
(See my question for an impossible riddle with no correct answer but it sure makes you think).

Sign language.
It's the only language all three could learn and understand.
When I took sign language courses, one lesson was to close your eyes and FEEL the signs with your hands, to understand what it was like for a person who could not see,. hear, nor speak.
Never know when an accident could rob ALL of one's senses!
