I have a severe inflamation of the stomach and it was suggested that they remove it - as it is only a 'reservoir' I would like to know if somone had a similar experiance and what changes had to made to their lifestyle.

There is a procedure for obese individuals called 'gastric bypass' surgery. Essentially, the stomach is bypassed. It has a huge impact on the lifestyle of the individual. The remaining space is about the size of a golf ball and you can only eat very small amounts at a time and then only certain things. I believe long term meds are involved. This is a last, last effort to lose weight.

Your stomach is not merely a reservoir but a key location where the digestion of food begins. Get a 2nd and even 3rd opinion on what the best course of action should be. Ask lots of questions. There are many solutions short of making any permanent changes to your internal architecture. Best wishes.

I didnt think you COULD have your stomach removed. Right now I have an ulcer and its really not cool but dont have your stomach removed. Just try to take the medicine your doctor gives you. It will take a while to heal and be uncomftorable for a while but just take care of yourself.

You probably mean that you are going to have part of your stomach removed, but it wil not bring any further repercutions, that cuttin some greasy food off, or acid food.
good luck !
