I mean, anything is possible if you're religious, and think that God could have chosen to make Jesus born any color, but if you don't believe in that stuff like I do, it seems most obvious that Jesus would have been a darker like the people of the region. Then again, it's also widely believed (partly by myself, though who can be sure), that Mary was actually raped by Roman soldiers, and if this were the case, a white Jesus is not unplausable.

Oh yeah, and no, it wouldn't really matter what color he was, to me, it's just a curious thing to think about.

He could have been. But his color does not matter.

No, Jesus couldn't have been white because he was promised to come down through the lines of Judah, which he was (see Mary's geneology in either Mattew or Luke - i forget). It's not realistic to think that Mary was raped by a Roman soldgier because, you're right, it would have paled his skin and he wouldn't have been accepted as a teacher (translated from "Rabbi") among the Jews. Also, it's unplausible that Mary was raped because Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, as well as a son of Mary, and so...if you believe in Jesus then you have to accept this claim, if you don't believe it then it doesn't matter where he came from or what color he was because if he was false then he was nothing more than the ultimate fraud.

I believe that Jesus was the Son of Almighty God, that He came though the lines of Judah, the son of Isreal, as promised, and that He is everything He claims he is and more. I think that our mortal minds are perfectly incapable of understanding the immensity and depth of the sacrifice made on our behalf.

What does Jesus's skin color have to do with the message and purpose he came to earth for?

Jesus was born in a very poor family, God could have choosen a rich and powerful family for Jesus's family, but he choose the poorest.

Jesus was probably also ugly in appearance to the human eye. Just an ordinary man born from a poor family.

But became the greatest man in the history of humanity.

Regardless of one's religious beliefs as to whether Jesus was divine or not, it is well established that Mary was Jewish.

Since Catholics believe that Mary, as Jesus, was an immaculate conception, one could just way that Mary's mother (name unknown) was Jewish.

All of the disciples were Jewish. The first "Christians" were all Jewish.

Since Jews in that part of the world had a bit darker skin, it is likely that Jesus did as well. He also likely had curly hair. He most certainly did not look like the Anglo-Saxon Jesus that most modern Christian religions and Christmas cards illustrate.

uumm...first of all Mary wasn't raped by Roman soldiers, she was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus by the Holy Spirit. that was the point of God choosing her.
As for His skin color, nobody today knows what he looks like so it doesn't really matter. I'll know when I see him in Heaven.

"It's widely believed that Mary was actually raped by Roman soldiers." How widely believed? Can you please quote statistics of any poll done to see how widely believed it is? I would say your widely believed would be more like about 1/2 percent of the world population. Now if that's widely believed ok then.

Even if you don't believe in the Bible and don't believe in most accounts of Jesus, Jesus was certainly not white. Mary was a middle eastern woman. So, Jesus was not white. Most white people don't want to admit this because honestly, it is hard to believe that Jesus looks more like those who we, Americans, despise the most. Accounts of Jesus say that his hair was like wool and his feet were like bronze.
