I understand all the stuff about changing the holy day of the week from the 7th to the 1st day of the week - but I've yet to find anything that says what day of the week that number should be. Why isn't the first day of the week a Tuesday or a Friday, for example? A Bible reference that actually states days rather than numbers would be useful. Thx.

It helps to know the Hebrew language.

The names of the days of the week in Hebrew are ordinal numbers, (day 1- day 6)with the exception of Saturday, which is Shabbat, the same word that translates to Sabbath.

Sunday is the forgiveness and saturday is the access, so many people do claim into beverage intake and take the mild, common or departed way into easyness, or more intake. This explains history´s attempts to control drinks and some open activities. Recreation is supposed to be fun, and some extra time is meant to have the general sensation of happiness, so perhaps this does attend to the first day, one when many collapse or suffocate before getiing busy. Any other remark is to clad the petitioners into their own esteems rather than having some good tax money spent on scarce results for general satisfaction.

While we all sit and debate about such things as this, unsaved people are dying everywhere. Why don't we all concentrate on the things of God that really matter. In His Great Commission, we are to go out into the highways and byways and teach/preach His Gospel trying to tell others about Jesus and being saved. There are some things that will never be analyzed until Jesus comes again. That is why the Word of God says that faith is needed. If you can see it, then we don't need faith. Whatever day you glorify Jesus is a good day and marvelous in His sight. May God Bless U.

The first day of the week is actually sunday and the seventh is Saturday. The Bible teaches us that God rested on the seventh day. The problem that we have today is that God didn't opperate on the Roman calendar and could not have possibly been talking about these particular days specifically. The Roman calendar was adopted with twelve months and every six yeears in Gods terms there is a thirteenth month that is included (kinda like february 29)

When Jesus The Christ died on the cross and HE was resurrected it marked the beginning of a new special day. THE LORDS DAY - THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK.
Oh what a wonderful day that was for mankind! Released from the Law! "It is Finished!"
Romans 6:14 "…ye are not under the law but under grace"
Romans 10:4 "Christ is the end of the law for righteusness to everyone that believeth."

Our LORD rose on the first day of the week. Mark and Luke and John all record the tomb being found empty on the first day of the week -Sunday.

In the New Testament, God himself abolished the Sabbath and other holy days, yet did not abolish the third commandment (see Mt 12.8 and Col 2.16,17.Nor did God command us to observe any day (see Rm 14.5,6). Why do we (read Christians) observe Sunday? this was the day our Lord rose from the grave and so each Sunday when we gather for word and sacrament we remember what he accomplished for us through his suffering, death, and resurrection. This practice of worship on Sunday was first begun by Christians of the first century (Read Acts 20.7 and 1 Cor 16.2).

Considering that all of the days of the week are named after pagan gods and goddesses (except for Sunday and Monday, which are named for the sun and moon), I doubt that any sort of reference is made in the Bible.

Funny thing is the name of the days of the week are based on greek mythology, planets, etc. Saturday=Saturn. I thought the 7th day,Sunday, according to Genesis, was the day God rested. Though I do not believe in Creationism.

the whole thing is screwed up...i dont even understand it and if it doesnt make sense to me even after years of studying i say phugget! Who the hell knows...people can tell you all day long that they know..uh nope, they dont. All they have is faith and all that is is someone has told them to believe in something or someone or face a horrible eternity. blah blah blah believe what you want, because the only thing anybody knows on this earth is they are going to DIE. They dont "KNOW" anything else.

The Jews always have kept the 7th day sabbath (God would have told them what day it is when He told them to observe the 7th day).

Our calanders are still set up on this basis, Saturday as the 7th day.
