When I express a view that is based on my atheist belief, I usually get a thumbs down.

It is not fair, you are very much correct. In this forum though it is not about being able to express you opinion and get honest deep discussion going, it is about my group against yours in the most insulting way. My eyes have been opened by reading things on here. There are some very intelligent contributors on here both ways.....then there are the very immature, narrow minded, shallow people that here are to put others down...I feel sorry for them for many reasons. They are cheating many participants on here from having true philosophical discussions....I hope deeply that it is not a sign of what a generation has to offer.

The same reason atheists, non-religious, and those of other faiths give thumbs down to Christians.

People just give thumbs down to questions/answers they dont like. It isnt like you lose points for them so whats the worry?

You have a right to believe what you want and I would ignore the thumbs down.

hehehe! i generally get more thumbs down than thumbs up because i find challenging a question more entertaining than receiving kudos from like minded folks.

i consider getting thumbs down from Fundy Christians to be a confirmation of being on the right track.

As a Christian I have the same thing happen to me by people who happen to disagree, even if a well-worded and well-thought out answer was given. That's just how the thumbs up/down works here. No biggie.

It's not a thumbs down.....let me explain.

I. I am the LORD your God: you shall no other Gods but me.

The Christians haven't convinced many people have they?

2. You shall not take
the name of the LORD your God in vain.

Jeez....that's not been too successful either.

3. Remember to keep holy the LORD'S Day.

More like, remember to go shopping and wash the car.

4. Honor your father and your mother.

Put them in a care home!

5. You shall not kill.

Ooops....another one bites the dust!

6. You shall not commit adultery.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.....another winner.

7. You shall not steal.

As if anyone does!

8.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Unless you're a Polish bishop

9.

You shall not covet your neighbor's house;
you shall not covet your neighbor's wife,
or his manservant, or his maidservant,
or his ox, or his ***,
or anything that is your neighbor's.

Nothing like keeping up with the Jones's

10. You shall not covet
your neighbor's goods.

Not a great list of Christian achievements there, I suspect.

Now the atheist's code:

1. Thou SHALT NOT believe all thou art told.
2. Thou SHALT seek knowledge and truth constantly.
3. Thou SHALT educate thy fellow man in the Laws of Science.
4. Thou SHALT NOT forget the atrocities committed in the name of god.
5. Thou SHALT leave valuable contributions for future generations.
6. Thou SHALT live in peace with thy fellow man.
7. Thou SHALT live this one life thou hast to its fullest.
8. Thou SHALT follow a Personal Code of Ethics.
9. Thou SHALT maintain a strict separation between Church and State.
10. Thou SHALT support those who follow these commandments

So there you have it....winners and losers.

The poor sods are trying to thumb a lift, not giving you a thumbs down!

Because they are intolerant of other people's beliefs and they are upset that you keep using big words that they don't understand. So, as frustrated as they are, they thumbs down you. Don't take it personally. They're just dumb.

Edit: Oops, I must've used a big word. I got a thumbs down.
