Matthew 21

1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away."

1-When they came near Jerusalem and had reached Bethpage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples ahead of him.2-He said to them, "Go into the village ahead of you. You will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them, and bring them to me. 3-If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them. That person will send them at once".
4-This happened so that what the prophet had said came true:
5-"Tell the people of Zion,
'Your king is coming to you.
He's gentle,
riding on a donkey,
on a colt, a young pack animal.'"

The operative phrase in that Scripture you just quoted is, "....and he will send them right away". When the donkeys were untied, if anyone HAD said anything to them (Scripture doesn't record whether or not anyone asked why the donkeys were being untied), Jesus said that the owner would allow them to be taken. It may be seen as allowing them to be used AFTER the fact, but there was a sense of urgency in Christ's need. After all, He was going to be viewed for the ONLY time in His life as who He said he was. When He rode into Jerusalem on that same donkey, He would be hailed as a savior and shouts of "Hosanna" (high praise) would be rained upon Him. But a mere 5 days later, He'd die on a Cross with a crowd mocking, jeering, beating and humiliating Him. Therefore, the URGENCY of the need should be what was noted for it is with GREAT URGENCY that our need for salvation must be realized, for the door of opportunity is closing more quickly each passing day.

Note verse 3 of Mt. 21. It is obvious Jesus didn't ask them to steal. "3 If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away." Once the owner or whoever is told that "THE LORD NEEDS THEM", "HE WILL SEND THEM right away". Jesus has powerful influence on His creation. Maybe the donkey was released by the owner 'cos he heard that Jesus needed it or because what Jesus said got FULFILLED because His word cannot come back to Him void. However, whatever a child has can freely be used by his father atleast as long as the child is still in the father's house and in his care. "...The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof..." Take care.

The last part of the scripture that you quoted answered your own question, He didn't tell them to steal. If the gentleman who owned the animals was eager to comply with the Lords desire for them, they were only receiving what he was giving. It would have been stealing had the owner of the animals not been willing to let Him use the animals. Also note that He was not, like so many charlatans on TV, trying to enrich himself while making others poor. There is nothing in this account that can be construed as stealing. My friends may come to my house and borrow things that are mine, even if I am not there. If my shovel is in the garden and my friend needs it, it is understood between us that he may use it as he needs, even when I am not there to give consent.

I stole a 3 pack of condoms a while ago and banged the crap out of some chick later. That night I swore Christ reached out to me and told me to strap up. He saved my life, and I killed a baby at the same time.

Certainly would amount for a fine joke, it might be a prank or a good thing to do, it sure could not be wrong to do as he tells you, baddest thing to happen would be become accused mildly by withstanders.

well, since 300 CE 9 million non christians were killed in the holy war because "christ wanted it" as said by the church and its followers.
Christianity needs to change from its distorted self.

Go steal something and then tell them Jesus told you to do it, and let us know how it turns out.
