I would love to simplify my life and am working towards that. Get out of debt and then bury myself in a cabin in the mountains or work at a remote campground for living expenses. Works for me!

Nothing "motivated" me, just understanding the facts about what the Buddha said about the reality of things (i.e. impermanence, the absence of inherent existence of all things, etc.) and then it kind of happens by default. Education has ways of opening your eyes that will change your life... or by analogy, you could remain like the others who insist that the sky is still a "dome" when in reality we all know it's not.

Buddhism came AFTER I already had simplified to a degree, with my education and knowledge of the situation with human consumption, materialism, greed and the impact on the Earth's resources... it just reinforced what I already knew and taught me how to "let go". It happens by default... it's not something you should have to NOR should try to force yourself to do.
