Pro: none of the rest of us have to put up with 'em.

Con: they get to plot without any check on their behavior.

Depends what you mean by 'closed system'. I don't promote closed-mindedness, so their are no pros in those terms. I think belief systems should be flexible enough to grow with insight.----as far as communities go, as long as the community doesn't become stagnant or overly exclusive.
