Is smelling something burning, when nothing is, a symptom or sign to an illness?

it could be a symptom sure . however what makes you so sure something isn't burning . it could be no fire but a belt on a furnace wearing out or it could be something outside .
i would first be all together sure that you are right about nothing burning ask other people outside on the street where ever you smell this ask lots of other people first.

does anyone in your family get seizures? People with seizures often get what's called an "aura" which is smelling something that is not there prior to having a seizure. But if it happens to you all the time, I doubt that's the case. That's as far as my medical degree goes as far as strange smells :)

Yes, including migraines or seizures.

But it could be that something really is burning too. So if there's someone with you, ask if they smell anything.

Could be a brain tumour, or a seizure. Needed to be check.
