I'm not saying the are desperate but usually they are just extremely lonely. My mom had went and used a couple online dating sites and dated around. She has been dating a guy she met online for almost three years now and living with him for about one and a half. I don't care for him but she loves him, so IDK!
I personally am freaked out about it and would never do it because of the people in this world today but it has helped a good amount of people find their Mr./Mrs. Right. So, I wouldn't totally down it.

I don't think people who meet online are desperate. A lot of people are just way to busy to go out to clubs and really go out to find someone and online is more convenient for them. I haven't actually dated anyone online but I've talked to some really cool people who I just ran into accidently while online. Some people can be desperate but I don't think everyone is.

IMO it's desperate. But then again some people are just impatient to meet the right person. Or they haven't had much luck dating in person. If they have problems in the real world of dating, I believe they will have problems in on line dating as well......what ever problems the individual had trying to date before on line dating will still be a problem in other words. Statistics show that on line relationships do not last because they don't get to know the real person.

I don't think they’re so much desperate as they are just 'fed up' with NOT finding someone. It's tough these days to meet someone with whom you "CLICK" (especially when you're caught up in life - work, school, etc., etc.). It's the "thing to do" now in our technologically, advanced society - to network online (hence MySpace, Match.com, eHarmony.com to name a few) and because EVERYone is doing it, people are less hesitant to try it themselves, and because of this, they feel it's safe to wander off in cyberspace. If anything, it's become a matter of convenience, the microwave age, ya know? They get to sift through the good, the bad and the ugly UNTIL they find their Prince Charming or Cinderella. Hope this helps. =)

I met my gf online, we had blogs so we commented each other for half a month i guess...i added her to my msn, ask her out after 3 days, then keep chatting 1 more week, another date and voila.
(she said that she wasnt planning to go out again but she liked the way i asked out the second time...actually i said: I wont let you say no)
And for those who say...it wont last...its been two years since that.

game players mostly. Sit in some office on a basic salary and chat on-line on the boss Internet, having "affairs" with at least 10 persons at once. They have nothing to do, and no life.

Most are normal, just busy or don't wanna meet people in bars. Gotta watch some because they are married and just looking for sex.
