put the meat in a sealed plastic bag and then completely cover it with cold water. That should thaw it pretty quickly.
Also the microwave if used properly will thaw your meat in no time. Just be sure and use 30% power and only 5-8 minutes at a time and rotate after each time period.

A warm water bath in the kitchen sink works, depends on how much, or big you are defrosting is and time factor you'll need. A big roast, you might need to change the water a couple of times to give a decent thaw, a couple of chicken breasts, maybe 15-30 minutes......
ps - how cold is your fridge set at? defrosting meat overnight usually works for me. you might have your fridge too cold.....

I usually use the water bath method. It works faster than the several day fridge method. I had a neighbor in Italy that left meat on the counter for over 24 hours then cooked and ate it and he is healthy as a horse. I wouldnt suggest it- but dont sweat it. Just make sure whatever method you use you cook your meat well.

You can either think ahead a day or two, or if you take red meat out a couple hours before you plan on cooking, get a big bowl put the wrapped meat in it, fill it with lukewarm water and check it every half hour. You also may want to look online for food safety and see what other ideas there are...

If you plan to cook in the evening take it out of the fridge early in the morning and let it thaw till you get home. Otherwise it can also be thaw in the microwave. It doesn't matter if it looks pre-cooked when it comes out of the MV, that's OK as long as you cook it right away.

I thaw frozen meat, poultry or fish by keeping it in its plastic bag, then wrap it with a newspaper and leave it outside the fridge overnight. This makes thawing gradual.

Learn to thaw it in your microwave, with practice, it works really well. See guidelines in your nuker booklet, then you end up fiddling with the times and power levels as to works best.
If it's urgent, you can always try just doing it in the oven at a low temp.

Put it under cold RUNNING water for a couple of minutes. I learned this technique from Alton Brown on Food Network. It really works!
