I believe you should research your faith and discuss it with him. Maybe the both of you could research your particular faith's together. And to whomever stated that Catholics are not like Christians is foolish. Catholics are very much Christian and the Protestant Church branched off of the Catholic Church. Finally, Catholics do not believe that man can forgive us of sins. The priest does not forgive sins. It does say in the bible "confess your sins, one to another." He was speaking to the priests and to the people. This does not mean that that person is forgiving you. But you know all of this because your Catholic guy or girl explained it to you already.

Love of another person is the not the right reason to convert to another religious form. Conversion, ideally, should come from within the soul, independent of all earthly lures. It also depends upon the religious fervor of the parties involved. For some such a swich is meaningless, for some it is a matter of hellfire to be faced. I converted to Islam when I fell in love with a Muslim man, but I examined my motives for a long time beforehand. The man is long gone, but the religion is still with me. This is a very personal question with many many facets to be considered. The main reason many insist upon conversion of a mate is concern over the soul of the children to be born. What religion will the child be raised in? This is a major consideration and the cause of many a divorce.

no, I wouldn't, because it is something really stupid to ask of another person, especially of a person you love. If somebody really wants to convert, so they would do it without being asked that's OK. But if they only do it for somebody elses sake, what's the use/worth of the conversion anyway? And anyway both are christians so they have the same religion so what's the bother. Or is he Irish, as they used to kill each other according to religious affiliation, there may be some mental baggage there (depending on age).
If you love somebody you should accept them as they are. Trying to change somebody if they don't want to be changed is a bad idea.

i would only convert to a religion i believed in and would raise my children in to support my husband. I wouldn't do it for a boyfriend. But yes, esp something like Roman Catholic, where his religion won't even consider the marriage valid if the two parties aren't catholic and married in a catholic church. (would convert to RC in particular, no)

Protestants and Catholics ARE CHRISTIANS !

A Christian is a follower of Jesus of Nazareth, referred to as the Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, who lived a life befitting that of the creator of the universe, free of sin and full of love, who at the end of his earthly life was crucified, and then on the third day, rose from the dead, and later ascended into heaven.

Christians identify themselves as monotheistic, believing that there is one God. However, most sects incorporate God as a perichoresis of three persons: Father (the Source, the Eternal Majesty); the Son (the eternal Logos or Word, incarnate as Jesus of Nazareth); and the Holy Spirit (the Paraclete or advocate). Today, it is estimated that there are around 2.1 billion Christians in the world making up 33% of the world population, with the largest Christian denomination being Roman Catholicism.

Protestants being thus impious enough to make liars of Jesus Christ, of the Holy Ghost, and of the Apostles, need we wonder if they continually slander Catholics, telling and believing worse absurdities about them than the heathens did? What is more absurd than to preach that Catholics worship stocks and stones for gods; set up pictures of Jesus Christ, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and other saints, to pray to them, and put their confidence in them; that they adore a god of bread and wine; that their sins are forgiven by the priest, without repentance and amendment of life; that the pope or any other person can give leave to commit sin, or that for a sum of money the forgiveness of sins can be obtained ? To these and similar absurdities and slanders, we simply answer: "Cursed is he who believes in such absurdities and falsehoods, with which Protestants impiously charge the children of the Catholic Church. All those grievous transgressions are another source of their reprobation."

"But what faith can we learn from these false teachers when, in consequence of separating from the Church, they have no rule of faith? ... How often Calvin changed his opinions! And, during his life, Luther was constantly contradicting himself: on the single article of the Eucharist, he fell into thirty-three contradictions! A single contradiction is enough to show that they did not have the Spirit of God. "He cannot deny Himself" (II Timothy 2:13). In a word, take away the authority of the Church, and neither Divine Revelation nor natural reason itself is of any use, for each of them may be interpreted by every individual according to his own caprice ... Do they not see that from this accursed liberty of conscience has arisen the immense variety of heretical and atheistic sects? ... I repeat: if you take away obedience to the Church, there is no error which will not be embraced.

No. It is lonely to not be able to share your faith with the person you have choosen to share all the things in your life.

Married someone of a different belief. Married 25 years, wish we could just pray together when times have been rough. Still love him, wish he could understand where I get my strength when life throws a curve. He respects it, just doesn't understand it for himself.
See, it gets complicated as the years go.
Also, do you love that person enough that if the years ahead change his faith or values from what he currently believes, would you still love him?
There are no guarentees of how life changes people thru a lifetime.

People are studying the bible and seeing for themselves how they have been deceived through the catholic church teachings. Besides a protestant provider is such a lot larger then a mass. You go away figuring out that you've got worshiped God.

I'm Christian, but I would never convert to the Catholic religion as I have strong negative opinions about their teachings and beliefs. So my answer would be "No."

Not really. Roman Catolics beliefs are not quite the same as christianity. They give the authority to forgive sins to man (called Priests) but the bible states that the only one with authorithy to forgive sins is Jesus. They also don't encourage people to read their bibles, which is the only way you are going to get to know God and Jesus, is by reading what they have to say.

Look, the basics are the same. All you are really doing is changing the forum it is presented in. That isn't a huge jump and it would be pretty easy to do.

If it were a big jump like Christian to Jew that really might be a stretch.
